Clutch smell
Clutch smell
This is my first post (actually technically my second as I just replied to the transmission noises thread). I am the recent proud owner of a 5 speed black SS, probably the only one in Newfoundland, Canada. My satisfaction rating with this vehicle is about 80% but one issue concerns me. I'm getting a burning clutch smell on occasion. It has happened 2-3 times when revving the engine and slowly releasing the clutch when backing up an incline. Any remedy for this and can 1 or 2 severe occasions permanently damage the clutch? Thanks!
If you slip the clutch excessively, this is normal. To prevent this, don't slip the clutch; get on and then off quickly. A few instances of minor clutch slip won't hurt the clutch. Now, if you do this on a regular basis you will shorten clutch disc life and potentially warp the flywheel.

Congratulations on your purchase BTW. What colour is it?
