Unhappy Clutch woes ?

even though my clutch spring isnt returning the pedal all the way back, sometimes I cant get in gear with the pedal all the way down .. Will come back after I monkey with it for a while pushing it back & forth. Then Its ok for a while . Last night I had to pull off the road after I tried to downshift to slow down for a turn . could not get in gear until I stopped & pumped the pedal a few times . Any ideas of whats going on ??

It's either the shifter linkage needs adjusting, or you need a new master cylinder.

Year and mileage would help.
X2 on RJ's post. Also possible you could have slave cylinder problems.

thank you for the replies , but where I would like it to be a linkage adjustment issue , it seems if it was an adjustment mproblem.it would do it all the time .

Now after I pump the pedal for a while , it works fine again does that make sense ? I thought master cylinder was just for the brakes ?

I guess a slave cylinder losing pressure would cause this to happen .. Not a mechanic here obviously --

There is a brake master cylinder and a clutch master cylinder. Both on the firewall under the hood. They both share the brake master cylinder reservior for their fluid. ( follow the tube from the brake master cylinder a few inches over and you'll see the small black cylinder that is the clutch master cylinder.)
The slave cylinder resides inside the transmission bellhousing. If you've had to add any brake fluid it may be because the clutch system is leaking somewhere.
Take a look for leaks or have a shop look at it.

My opinion. With that many miles, if you have to replace one of those, you should do it all. Clutch master cylinder, slave cylinder and throwout bearing plus a new clutch assembly: ( clutch disc and pressure plate: resurface or replace flywheel.)

by the way , just saw what you have done to yours

have you taken it to the track ,if so whats your ET or mph.

if not how much power are you running

New to the HHR WORLD ,even though Ive owned a 06 LT a few years back ,but bought this SS few months ago . So some dummy questions

What are Brembos , TTR engine mounts & where do you get them --( does it really help with torque steer

No track time with mine. Don't drive it much anyway. It was just a backup 3rd car for me and my wife that I've had fun modding on since new.
Mine has the Stage 1 or GMTU (GM Turbo Upgrade) 290hp and 315 tq. I don't have any other power add on's, so my power numbers are close to that.
The TTR (Turbo Tech Racing) front mount does reduce a lot of the torque steer. TTR is one of this sites vendors. Good folks.
Brembos are the optional front brake pkg. on the SS. Larger rotors and 4 piston calipers. Mine has those along with the limited slip differential.

Pic of the Brembos when I painted them red in 2010.

Brembo’s are an add on kit from ZZP if your SS did not come with the option

https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?m...2F131217904891 or

https://zzperformance.com/products/1...rembo-calipers

But you can go bigger

or huge!

Nice --mine is red also by the way -- mine will be used a little differently -- will drive it on my sales /service job so will be putting plenty of miles on it unfortumately . But I got tired of driving boring vehicles & wanted something that got good mileage but plenty of ooomph when I needed it . So therefore I will need to be careful on how far I go with the Mods . I also have lowered it approx. 1.5 inches with just lowering springs . not coil overs .

Thanks again for ypur help
also to RJ-RS & OLD BLUE
