Cobalt DP

Will a Cobalt SS DP fit an HHR SS? Is the overall exhaust the same?

YES for the 5 speed trans, they all interchange.

HHR auto DP is 1" longer, also the HHR auto 1st cat is in a slightly different location & angle.

A 5 speed DP in an auto HHR will have the 1st cat slightly rubbing againest the sway bar. And the stock cat-back will rub at the gas tank, unless you add 1" in length of the cat-back in the resonator section of the stock cat-back.
The Magnaflow cat-back will work ok, no adjustment needed.

So any of the cobalt ss t/c exhaust systems will fit the hhr ss 5 speed? Just want to double check.

Interesting and good to know. Now Im wondering if the gmpp exhaust for the cobalt will fit my hhr auto buy adding that 1" section. They are cheaper and easier to buy than the hhr gmpp exhaust.

Thats what I thought, I just wanted to make sure because now I can look at some cobalt ss mods. For some reason, the makers of some of the dp's and exhaust dont ever state that they are interchangeable. Thanks

HHR & Cobalt cat-backs are slightly different too...
You can 'make' either one work on the other...

What's really weird is that there is a difference internally, between the auto & manual SS mufflers.
More rows of 'holes', for better sound control on the autos.
This muffler would've been ok for both...
That's how the old GM wastes money...
I guess since they had to shorten the auto SS cat-back by 1", they might as well 'dick' with the muffler too...
