Coming over from the Ford Side of Town...or convince me I need a HHR SS!
Cash for Clunkers is just too good to pass up!
Currently driving an '08 Scion xD to work and back but it ain't got no balls!
...it does get 38MPG but...
Ok, so usually I buy Ford but the Focus/XXX line has NEVER impressed me.
Love to have a new Mustang, but it does not qualify and a little more than I want to spend. I need the utility of 4 doors and a hatch!
Always been a gear head and this little gem has got my attention and is being discontinued...so I'm about to jump in!

Not sure what you are waiting for, get over to your local Chevy dealer and pick one up! I love my SS, even with the auto trans, and now with the Stage 1 kit all under warranty, it's hard to beat! I looked for a while for something just like you, 4 doors and some balls!
Best thing would obviously be a STI or EVO, but they cost a lot more $$$$ and they probably won't do the cash for clunkers. Then comes the Caliber SRT (Dodge is dead, no power adders from the dealer, manual trans only, interior looks like crap IMO, and the Ford line MazdaSpeed3 (manual trans only), so that only left me with 1 choice! SS looks great, interior is nice, has 4 doors and a hatch, auto trans option, good gas mileage even though you have to use premium, dealer warrantied power adders, you can't go wrong!
Unless things changed but the cash for clunkers ended once the weekend was over. And they are going to vote to extend it after the Aug. recess, but until then it is finished. This is my understanding of it.
Personally I could care less, as my 10 yr old cavalier rs doesn't qualify. So I am out of luck trying to get some of my tax money back. (and your tax money also

Program rules state that you must have owned the vehicle for no less than a year.
Yea, the dealer told me they are getting the deal done, that is all the PW, and getting the car on the lot then waiting for the funding to be approved.
I'm a Conservative and am usually against government funding/bailouts...but unlike what has been done recently this actually does the working class some good!
This site has a LOT of the information needed to make an informed decision.
I love the 'car hobby' and always will!

Unfortunately the rules or C4C is that you must have owned the trade in car for a year and have had it insured for a year. I got my '06 HHR for the functionality of the car(truck) and good gas mileage. I gave up on perormance driving years ago due to low testosterone.

My Marquis has been an exceptional car but with 190,000 , still runs like new and the clear coat all but gone... Had it for 8 years and it's listed at 18MPG = good to go!
I bought the HHR SS because no other vehicle was a combination of all the things I wanted out of a car (performance, sportiness, handling, color, utility and gas mileage). Would I like to have a Shelby Mustang GT500 like my brother in law? Of course, but that doesn't come close to meeting all the requirements I have, since it is my daily driver.
Go with the SS - you will not be disappointed.
