Comparision GMC Typhoons and Syclones VS HHR SS

Hello,
I always loved these truck's when they came out in 1991 almost bought a used one in 1992 they have held there resale value quite well I would say as they are considered classic's. It is interesting in comparing the HHR SS with these two previous vehicles as to performance they had V-6 Turbo intercooled motors

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GMC_Syclone

Featuring a turbocharged 6-cylinder engine, all wheel drive, and 4 wheel anti-lock brakes, the specifications had more in common with a Porsche than most other pickup trucks.

1st truck to rcv 4 wheel anti-lock brakes

Output was 280 hp (209 kW) and 350 lb·ft

The Syclone, when new, was capable of accelerating from 0-60 mph in 4.6 seconds and could do a quarter-mile run in 13.4 seconds at 98 mph (158 km/h)

I have always had a love for these trucks. I had a chance to pick up a typhoon in arctic white which, from what I've observed, is a fairly rare color... anyway the guy only wanted $1,500 for it because the engine compartment started on fire. I found out this is a fairly common thing on some early GMC jimmy's and blazers due to a faulty wiring in the fuse panel... anyway, I passed on it because at the time I still lived at home in my parents house and my dad had a panic attack over it because I already owned 'too many vehicles'. Needless to say... I am still pissed

For years I wanted a Syclone or Typhoon. I finally bought one a few years back. Just sold my Ty in November. Best dang thing I have ever done! lol They were great to own while under factory warranty... They SUCK to own now unless you really like to wrench on cars and troubleshoot gremlins.

Im currently building a "clone" of a Typhoon... LT1 powered, AWD, 2dr Jimmy w/ LS1 disk brake conversion, etc etc

Wow, I had no idea those trucks were that fast! I always thought they were awesome looking with the styling package and graphics they had. I had a '92 S15 4X4 truck and also a '94 S10 4x4 Blazer back then and I loved those vehicles. That 4.3L motor was great, but I wish they would have had this turbo though! That would have been fun!

Yes, I would hang on to that Typhoon SS HHR CDN... That is a pretty rare truck I would say!

Oh yeah, and a comparison... There is no comparison. Even my crappy running Ty would have given an HHR SS a nice view of its taillights. Quick as all get out off the line. Dang those trucks are fun! The HHR SS is neat, but not a groundbreaking rare vehicle like the SyTy.
