Competition mode question
Is there any downside to running your SS in competition mode during regular driving? ex. Shorter engine life, etc... Just wondering because the manual advises against it, but it reads like it is due to a possible loss of traction. I am not doing hard launches, or dogging it. The car is so much more respnsive and fun to drive in comp mode.

They don't recomend it as with the traction control limited it could create a condition where some knuckle head crashes and tries to take GM to court for his stupidity.

But, I thought driving in COMP mode did 3 things
1 rev limiter
2 launch control(sucks, is being nice)
3 raised the shift points(AUTO's)?
The third one I am not too sure about, it would be nice to know

I agree. The GM lawyers don't recommend it. I bet you'd get a different opinion from the now defunct GM Performance Division staff engineers. The only time mine comes out of competitive mode after I push the TCS button twice is when I shut the engine off and the TCS resets itself.

I have the Auto trans and always drive in comp mode, enjoy seeing that Launch control in the DIC everythime I stop
The only time I do not drive in that mode is when it is WET on the roadways.
Yes, you will feel a difference, more responsiveness in comp mode, then again I have the BSR tune and always feel better no matter what mode I am in..

It just feels like there is not too much traction control and just enough to help keep the tires from spinning with out it.
I wish we has a full run down of all the Comp Mode does for the Automatic since it is not very well outlined in the owners manual.
