If the seats are the same - it's not a comp seat. See the photo supplied by kp94ss in this thread. If you look closely, you will notice that the driver seat is different from the passenger seat.

Any auto upholsterers out there? If so, how hard would it be to remove the plastic pieces in the bolsters? Any idea on cost to do so?

I also have the preformance seat option.I first test drove one without the preformance seat and didnt care for it at all.The seat was flat, and it was like you sat on it rather than in it.
The second one I drove had the seat, and I loved it.I like the way it sits and I drive 80 miles 1 way to work each day.
Now 1 thing to remember you must take the time to get the seat properly adjusted. With the back lumbar support,it may take a time or three to get it but once you find the sweet spot, itll be tough to beat.
Im 6'1" and weigh 205 and have a bad back, the seat makes the car.

We just picked up our SS last night and the one our dealer found us had the competition seat. Before I told my dealer we would take it, I asked about the seat and he couldn't tell us much. Reading posts here made me nervous about taking the car with this seat but, I'm glad we did.

I'm 6'4 and about 250 pounds. I find that the seat holds my upper legs, and all of my upper body nicely. I also feel good back support. I don't know what will happen on a long drive though.

Here is the seat in red trim.

This car is so much better - although I would love to have my PTGT seat back! It was confortable, leather, had armrests and was heated.

I have the performance seat and I do like it. I did sit in the seat for 6 hours of driving in one day (3 hours each way). Never really felt sore like I have before in other cars and it has good support in my opinion. It did take a few tries to get the seat adj. right.

The responses have me totally baffled.

This creates numerous questions for me.

1. Is it possible there are two different types of competition seats?
2. For those who find the comp seat comfortable, does your seat have the 7” plastic piece in the side bolster that begins about 4” from the front to about 11” from the front?
3. Could I have gotten a defective seat?
4. Could I have defective legs and a$$?

I have not only tried what LT1GMC suggested, I have stood on my bolsters and jumped up and down on them. Also purchased a chair pad that I am using to lessen the pinch and jab. Although better – does not fix the problem.

After researching this on this forum, I plan on taking the car to the dealer and complaining but I have a feeling that this is going to be a major uphill battle. I do think it is reasonable that I should be able to sit in my seat without it causing pain.

while i have never been in the car long, i dont even own one, i didnt feel a problem in the seats, i liked them better than the leather ones my friends 06 gti his, i thought they were great. btw im 6'2 and 160, so i might squeeze my narrow self between the plastic lol. Is it possible to switch out the standard pass. for the performance seat? is it going to be an option in the future because im going to order one next year probably
thanks
