Competition Seat Owners and Testers
Now that I have had a chance to get some seat time in the competition seat I have noticed a bit of an up push on my left thigh, the right side is fine as is the seat back.
The wife and I took 2 hour ride today and after a while, and hour or so, the up push became a bit noticeable boarding on uncomfortable.

I didn't have an opportunity to sit in a performance seat before buying, and even if I had, there wouldn't be any guarantee that mine would come with the same kind, so I went with the standard seat. It seems just fine to me.
i would switch with you .. i have other cars that i can use while i'm waiting for u to ship yours back.. do u have to remove the whole seat or just the bottom part
to upgrade to the performance seat do u have to change out the whole seat or is the back support separate?

I'm in my car 2 to 3 hours a day and it gets worse as the week goes on. I'd like to hear additional feedback from you after you have had more seat time.

Not really difficult if you are the slightest bit mechanically inclined. Slide seat forward, undo mounting bolts, unplug connectors, remove seat from car. Only real caution is to use care not to scratch interior plastic or paint. Once out of the car, flip it over and it is fairly obvious how to remove cover and foam. Here are a couple of photos of seat covers and cushions that might be of interest.

We have the manual, see the picture a few posts up.
When we stopped by our Chevy dealer they had an SS auto on the lot which the wife and I test drove, it did not have the performance seat. I also sat in a 1LT with a manual to see if I would have a problem with clutch, I’m 6’ 4”. There was plenty of room for me and I didn’t have any issues. Remember, my daily driver is a 2006 HHR auto with sun roof so I am familiar with the room I have.
Since this was a replacement vehicle for the wife, she chose the options she wanted and the dealer had to do a search for a vehicle (for some reason SS’s are scare around SE Michigan, and the manuals more so). She wanted a manual, sun roof, and high end audio system, blue with blue/gray interior. The nearest one was 185 miles away and I wasn’t keen on committing to a vehicle I couldn’t see first. I showed my wife the color combos from the sticky here because the dealer couldn’t (strange) and she said she would go for the red with the red accent interior.
Success, inventory search found one near by and the dealer traded for it. He showed us the invoice and I saw the performance seat option and asked what it was. He didn’t know and neither did anyone else at the dealership. He said he would find out and call us back.
The dealer did call and told us what the seat was, but what he didn’t tell us was that the seat reduces the amount of vertical and horizontal room available over the standard seat. Also, the amount of bolster support the seat cushion provides is too much which makes it uncomfortable.
I have not said anything to my wife regarding the seat, I want to see if she says anything first. But, she just one of those 5 foot something gals that is a bit on the thin side so the seat may be fine for her.
My advice regarding the performance seat is this, understand that you will loose room and understand that the bolster support for the seat bottom is excessive. Depending on your size, this may not be an issue but, just sitting in the seat for a short period of time will not be an indicator. For me, after an hour or so driving I start to notice the pressure on my thighs.

A word of wisdom, if you disconnect the seat from the wiring do not turn on the ignition while the seat is disconnect, if you do, you will set a code which will require a trip to the dealer to get cleared.
I never did this but a friend did and warned me.
