Considering trading the GTO for SS, thoughts?

- 400hp vs 260hp
- 400lb-ft vs 260lb-ft

With a tune you can easily get over 300whp and gobs of torque which is not too far off from what the GTO is most likely putting to the wheels.. Add some bolt on's an an good tune and you can get up to 350whp on over 400wtq easily. There is not much out there the SS can't spank at that point. There is at least one guy running in the 12's with simple mods.

I love the SS and the auto is fine. I mode makes it a whole different beast, each gear holds to red line. That and Comp mode and it's a blast to drive.

talk about bringing up an old thread. what all do you have done to your goat?

One plus I can see with the GTO's is they are very affordable right now at least plenty out there for 11-12k where a hhr ss at this point will cost more.
Not sure what the cost of mods to get a gto in the mid 12's would be but
2005hhrauto on here is consistentley running mid 12's and I see him running low 12's on a good air day and I really do not think he has a whole lot dollar amount wise into mods.
Originally I did not like the gtos because I felt they looked too much like a grand am
now I like there look because when I see a debadged one I say hey that looks like a nice grand am what did they do to it then I realize what it is
quite the sleeper and the looks are growing on me
glad to see the prices are affordable for these gtos now

The GM Aussie's really know how to build an awesome car. Wish they'd bring the Commodore SS V8 VE over here like they did with the GTO. I think that in his book it said that Bob Lutz had something to do with the last go-around.

This is my GTO and I would never trade it for an SS. The SS might have great performance, but it still can never compare to the overall quality of a GTO.

The new Sedan will be here next year as a Chevy Super Sport. It will be on the new VF platform and have the new Gen V Direct Injected VVT V8. I have heard HP could be 440 HO through to almost 500 HP.

No other models at first but once the Camaro moves to the Alpha Platform in 2015 Rumors are the Caprice and the Super Sport would move to the old Camaro Production line were othe rmodels could be added like the Ute and Wagon or even a V6.

No word on a coupe but with the Camaro in the line up I am not sure they would bring it back.

In the V8 form the car will be limited to low volume and it will be priced as much or more than a Camaro SS.

Lutz did good on this car as they had no money to really do it but still got it done. The budget was so tight they could not afford to to the hood scoopes and the split exhaust till 05 is how bad the money was. This is also why we did not get new sheet metal. It is a shame the dealers ripped people off on these when new as it really hurt sales.

At least the prices have stayed stable and kept up with both the GTO and G8 since Pontiac left.Could not say that for my old GTP.
