Yesterday I read that the new SS is going to come in under the weight of the Camaro SS, too. Good news if true. Believing everything you read online is not always wise, though...

It also makes me wonder what they did to get there, because the G8 was no lightweight.

The G8 was a VE platform and the SS is a VF. They have used more aluminum and other light weight materials in the car. Also they are doing like they did on the ATS to cut weight from many areas that often are over looked. Check out what they did on the ATS to get it to 3300 pounds and it is amazing the detail they took.

The Alpha 2015 Camaro also will come in around 3300-3400 pounds from the 3900-4100 pounds it now carries.

The difference is the new GM has money to make a platform right from the start vs the present Camaro that was just adapted from a Sedan platform that is pretty old when you really look at it.
