received the dashhawk today and want to upgrade the firmware, but I keep getting the message "dashhawk not connected, check connection and retry"
any ideas?????

 

Try re-installing, then repeat if it doesn't work. Also try manually installing usb drivers instead of letting windows go through the automated "plug and play" driver install. Plan B: call tech support.

 

I had that problem, make sure you do not have any other programs claiming your serial ports, for example, a Palm Pilot sync program.

I know, why does it have anything to do with serial ports, I don't know but once I closed down the sync program, my Dash Hawk connected.

 

appreciate the response, all helped, and also went to the MSD Tech Forum. I ended up going into the application file and under properties, click on
"Run as Administrator"....(Windows Vista OS) and all works fine....
unit is now upgraded to V2.4.0 I am a happy guy
now to go out and record some times
