Correct. That's why I only gave a price for a bone stock one.

Hell if I could get $22 K for my SS with less miles today I would sell it.

I payed less than that new for mine. There is no way in hell one is worth that.

I would recomend taking your time and wait for the right one to come along. They pop up in Ohio here with similar miles for $17K-18K and while I find that is a little high to me I am glad to see the resale holding up.

Just wait and look as you should be able to find one with less than 20,000 miles for at the least $18K.

As for modified cars they are a two edged sword. Some of them are very good cars and have been cared for well while others are rode hard and put away wet. It is a mixed bag with a modified car of any kind. Who did the work, how was it done, was it run hard and damaged at any time? You just don't know. It is best to buy stock unless you get a really good deal and do your own mods.

The one mod the GM Turbo Upgrade is the only one I would not fear. It has a warranty if it is not older than 5 years and has more than 100,000 miles.

Got him down to 18,500 - don't think he's gonna budge any more than that. I'll wait until 12/30 or 31 and see how bad he want's to sell it before the end of the month ....

i agree with the modded part. as far as value i think you are right about 18,000...that seems like a fair price. i don't know what they book for i haven't looked in a couple years. i bought a 2005 civic in 2006 it had 11,900 miles on it and i paid 14,300, book was 14,500. i drove it for a year and totalled it with i think about 40,000 miles on it. insurance gave me 15,500. in this situation i bought the car at a fair price but the value actually went up. so it can happen.

not a bad plan. go in there and tell them you will give them 18k for it and if they tell you no walk out. 9 times out of 10 they won't let you leave.

good luck

I was just going to say just give him your number and to call you next week if he want to sell it. I would push him to at least 18K.

In the mean time do your home work on the web and collect prices from around the country and have prices to back you up or to give you other options.

WORD! Same here.

My 2008 with 68K miles would fetch me $12-$13K in trade-in value, and cost me $16K to buy retail.

$12-$13K seems really low, but considering the car is 3.5 years old and has 68K miles, and I bought it for $20K, that's only a 35% depreciation.
