Floor Matt = many issues

I purchased some floor mats (off the shelf) from Pep Boys about a month ago and they caused several issues. 1st it would not allow the clutch pedal all the way down so I would keep it to the right. 2nd: I was wondering why I was only getting 5 to 6 pounds of boost and it turns out it was the freakin mat that was too thick and slid under the gas pedal so I kept it pulled to the right and back. The 3rd and final issue that caused them to go in the trash: I was hitting it hard and the gas pedal some how became jammed under the floor mat; it’s a good thing it's not an automatic or it would not have been pretty.

These mats seemed perfect once in place, just to look at it, it seemed perfect, but they turned out to be a total dangerous nuisance when operating the vehicle.

I figured I’d share this with you guys since mats are one of the first things we deal with. What ever you get better be specifically for the HHR with that weird shape or it might be dooms day for your ass.

Thanks for the info, I've been looking to get some for the new SS that I will pick up next week.

I just got the best mats on the market. (least I think so.) My kids bought me some floor liners/mats from www.weathertech.com. I admit they are pricey at $99 for the fronts, but they are molded to fit the HHR perfectly and look very high end. They should last the life of the car.

Check them out if you haven't seen them.

The best thing your going to find for the SS is the NPI carpeted floor liners.

They are now avaiable in the SS black carpet color.

NPI-609361 front and NPI -6239361 for the rear.

I have them ordered for mine at Summit Racing.

I had these in my last GMC for 10 years and still have a set in my GP. THey wear like iron, look like factory carpet and are easy to clean. They catch all the slop and winter mess.

I still use a Weathertech is good too if you juat want a rubber mat.
