FYI Tune For The SS

I sent an email to Bill Hahn at Hahn Racecraft to see if the tune that they have for the Solstice GXP would work with the HHR SS and he said that they had talked to BSR and they would have a tune for it and the Colbat asap. The BSR/HAHN tune for the Solstice GXP is awsome. I own an GXP with there tune and the difference is like nite and day. You can check it out on there web site. So far it has been the best HP increase for the money.

I have GXP too and talked to Bill about getting a PPC from him for my GXP with the idea of switching it to my HHR SS when it came in. But the PPC
controller which flashes the ecm is locked to the VIN of the initial car. I asked
whether BSR would consider allowing such a swap and he said the answer from them was no. Thus I am having to wait for my tune.

Just what is this "tune". I have not come across this term before and I'm clueless!

a tune is a change in the car's computer software.
In a nutshell, it makes the engine run with more power output, both HP and torque. In the case of a t/c car, it turns up the boost.

tune would be in this case reprogram the ecu(engine control unit or electronic control unit) This could result in added horsepower and/or better mileage per gallon

hafta be careful about tuning your car's SW tho... If the dealer discovered you changed the software, it would surely void your engine's warranty. And that would be a BAD thing.

Page 2 of this PDF explains the tune thing... good thing it can be flashed back to default settings when the vehicle is taken for in for service.

So you buy a gizzmo that plugs into your car's computer and it "tunes" it by reprogramming it and then returns it to stock when ever you choose to reprogram it again? The "tuner" gizzmo costs a grand? How 'bout renting one?

The best thing about the BSR/HAHN tune is you can go back to stock in a couple of mins. for that trip to the dealer. If the tune for the SS is as good as the GXP, and I'am sure it will be, it is the best HP for the money. The difference is like nite and day in the way the car performs. I was totally amazed in how the car runs. You would swear there is a small block chevy under the hood.
