Gear ratios / RPM @65Mph
 

Do 5 speed trans have higher MPH than automatics if so why?
What is the rpm at 65mph manual trans fifth gear?
what is the rpm with Automatics?
I heard trans gear ratio and diff ratios changed with the turbos compare to non turbo,
what is the trans and diff gear ratio, 1 thu 5th and 1 thu 4th automatics

Can't tell you about the auto, but here is the gears for the SS manual:
1st = 3.38
2nd = 1.76
3rd = 1.18
4th = 0.89
5th = 0.07

Final drive ratio = 4.05:1

2,385 rpm (2008 HHR SS, don't know if they changed any relevant factors for 2009)

Can someone post the gear ratios for the auto so we can compare?

Auto Ratios
 

1st-2.96
2nd-1.62
3rd- 1.00
4th- .68

Final 3.63:1

Thanks ratracer, I thought the auto may have a shorter final drive.

Correction- Final drive is 3.29:1 , 3.63:1 is non-SS tranny

No wonder this thing likes to cruise @ 80:eek:

That's what I was thinking. There is quite a difference between the auto and manual!

can you change ring and pinon gear ratios 4.05 to 3.63 on manuals
can you add posi to automatics by swaping spool?

And here I thought the SS ratio on my 08 was somewhere like 417 to 1......
