Going for a test drive. Few extra questions.
Finally getting some time off and going to drive an SS or two and had a few questions.
1. How much boost should a stock SS make ?
2. Any way to tell if an aftermarket tune is present besides boost level?
Such as "Premium Only" stickers in the fuel door, crimps on upper tmap would give away the GMTU.
3. Most of the ones I have seen online don't have the performance seat. Those that have sat in both, is there much difference ?
Thanks for all the helpful advice in my previous posts.

1. Stock is in the 14-17 lb. range. Could be slighty lower or higher depending on atmospheric conditions.
2. Aftermarket tunes are usually "hidden". Boost level is usually the giveaway.
3. Sorry. Can't help with the seats. Both mine are the performance seats.

I have had both seats, I added the second performance seat to the SS, they are way more comfortable.
You might try the traction control, or cruise control button....if it has Trifecta hidden tune it will be triggered by one of those buttons. Mine is on when the cruise control is off.

So, if what you're saying was true, then none of the auto trans. SS folks would have the performance seat.
I'm pretty sure there are folks out there with performance seat(s) and automatic trans. In fact, I saw one just last week.
Doubt that anyone can tell you the difference between the perf seat and the standard unless they have one of each. If you get a good, clean car, I wouldn't let the seats decide against it, but would prefer the perf seats because they look cool. I have the standard and took 2 trips 2000mi round trips; never had a back ache and it was rather pleasant in fact. Get your list of preferred options together and see what is mandatory for you and what is not. In my case, I waited for LSD and 5 speed and found them in a preowned '08 (bought it from a dealer in early '09 with 6k mi). Black or red was preferred, but I'd take any color if the car was excellent overall. If it had the perf seats, it would have been nice, but the price of mine at the time was so low that I couldn't refuse it. The orig owner must have taken a beaten.
If you have the GMPP tune, there will be a sticker under the hood. It is a square white sticker. Mine is was stuck on the drivers side of the hood towards the front of the car. There will also be a "premium only" sticker on the gas door. I got lucky, when I bought my HHR SS it came with the GMPP tune already installed. However, I had to solder TMAP sensors to fix the boost issues.
As far as boost level, with the GMPP tune, my car only barely hits 20 PSI. But the torque gauge will always read over 300 lbs/ft when I get on it.

well I got an 09 ss and neither seat is the performance seat! from what I have seen the performance seat has straight stitching across the seat, the non performance has a curve to the stitching.
x2 for what above said about the stickers, one under the hood and one on the gas door if you have the GMPP tune, also the sensor in front on the engine will have a blue Bosch sticker on it, factory does not
swear I have one of the most basic SS's, auto, no sunroof, no performance seat, single disc radio.

The stickers being there(fuel door and under hood) is NOT a sure sign of the GMTU being installed.
The tech at the dealership that did my install, just left the stickers in the new parts box with the old Tmap sensors. He said he wasn't sure if I wanted them "stuck" on, so he gave them to me to put on if I wanted to.
I wound up only putting the fuel door sticker on. Thought the under hood white sticker looked out of place, so I left it off.
