A good day @ the stoplight

On our way home from a doctor appointment, i was at a intersection that had a lane for forward travel after the light along with a lane on the right for turning @ the intersection. On the other side of the intersection i was gonna be heading straight on, was a short merge lane on the right leading into the main lane of traffic(was for those that had turned right into my direction of travel.
Next to me (obviously not going to turn right at the light) was a older K-car (I know not much competition ) with a young girl that was bee-bopping her head to whatever music she had on. Over the yrs i could tell she had plans on beating me across the intersection when the light went green,,,,i thought different (Forgot to tell you that my wife was with me) Light goes green , i give it the gas, not WOT or close but just enuf to not let Miss dented up Kcar to get her wish. Well, the tires broke free and let out a decent squeal. Not a long one, just enuf to hear.(3-4 secs?) Did not even get past the posted speed limit, i just was making sure i kept my righteous spot on the road.
My wife looks at me , not mad but not grinning inside like i prob was either LOL, and said something along the lines like "Wow you sure smoked that old K-car Hon." Of course i had to play off that i did not plan to break traction (Even threw in a "It should not have done that Dear, the traction control shoulda taken care of that" ) "Of course i was not racing her or anything like that Hon, geez a K-car? C'mon "
I caught minor flack from her the rest of the trip ("there's a old Renault, think you could take him?") I just blew it off.

Not a stoplight race w/ a 'Stang/Camaro, or even a ricer, just getting ahead of a beat up K-car that wanted my rightful spot in front of my SS. Not much of a bragging thread here, more like me playing off lightin' them up for a beater when prob a lot less than breakin the tires free woulda got me ahead of her.

I honestly did not plan to do that (break free)
plus i think my wife is not 100% sure of what my SS is, compared to a non SS. Sure she knows it's got a turbo and the body stuff, but other than that i don't think she really knows, which is fine with me.

Getting close to harvest time around here, mebbe my next "race" will be with a combine,,,,,LOL

Wow, I knew there were lawn mower races, but never heard of the belt sander racing, Thats so cool! Thanks for sharing

Great story 08blackHHRSS! Sounds like my everyday commute, nothing but fun. The SS rocks, I love the stereo, the suspension, the boost, and of course the stopability!

My point exactly
It's those kinda people that hurry to the front of a line on a expressway (like when a lane is backed up to exit or along those lines) and try to jump in at the last moment when all they coulda done is get in line a lil further back and don't screw up those already in line .Truckers will block the lane that will be merging into one lane due to construction or a accident(Two semi's side to side on a two lane road, not allowing those that feel they have to speed all the way up to the front and squeeze in line right at the bottleneck where it goes into one lane.) Truckers have told me if everyone got in the "open" lane early on, traffic will move faster thru a congested one lane merge situation.(One went so far to tell me he read studies that they did , showing it went faster
