Good Deal or not please, 2010 SS, Red

Found a nice 2010, Red HHR-SS, less than 14,000 miles, One local owner, with the only option being auto tranny.
Original sicker was around $28,700 or so.
At a dealer near me that is hurting to get rid of it.
Slight accident history, got hit at a Drive thru, looks like well fixed with a replaced bumper, everything else looks straight.
Car seems real good, drives well.
Not as powerful as my son's 2009 Cobalt SS with Stage 1 and some other stuff.
I have a 2005 Mini Cooper S, with an extra 50 horsepower or so, that will blow this HHR-SS away for now.

Two questions please.

1. Got the dealer down from $20,996 to $15,000 and I'm thinking this is a good deal.

2. What improvements would you make for more power, when the warranty expires soon, if I make the purchase.

Always wanted a HHR-SS, but I currently mostly drive a 2009 2LT HHR that I love, in the Aqua Blue Metallic color.
I don't need another car at this time in my fleet, however, if this is a really good deal, I may go pick it up.
What do you folks think please?

is trading in your 2lt an option also? or do you want to keep both..
either way, that sounds like a good deal, just make sure to check the underbody to see if any other damage was done as in body being twisted (which i doubt if the drive-thru story is true)

Thanks Skyline26,

I love my Aqua Blue 2LT, and I don't want to trade it.
I like owning a regular car, with some luxury features like it has for me, that's still a basic car.
My previous ride was a 2006 2LT, that I bought new, and drove for 127,000 miles, before I traded it for the blue one.
Nothing ever went wrong with that car, and the Aqua Blue one appears headed the same direction!.
If I get this 2010 HHR-SS, I'm not sure what to do with it, I've just always wanted one!
I know I'd love the SS also.
Thanks again.

Ha ha ...a trifecta tune will pass that stg1 balt.....autos only have 235 stock, easy 300 tuned, major difference. Sounds like the dealer is motivated. I got my pair the other way around....SS first, 2LT panel next....

Hey Batman,

At $20,966, they were about $1,600 over kbb values!
I called them on that while driving in with my Aqua Blue HHR, and left after saying they'll never sell it.

They left a message on the answer machine later that day, and said $17,500.

I drove back over today in my sons 2009 Cobalt SS, and they got real serious, after seeing me in the two different Chevy's, that would sort of blend into the HHR-SS.

By the time I walked away today, they said they rather sell it to me for $15,000, than take it to the Auction.

I think it's been sitting at this dealer for more than 3 months.

Does it sound like a good deal to you?

They were way high, and it sounds like you have a deal now. I paid around 15K for my '08 used with 42k miles. That low mileage one is a steal at that price if everything else is OK.

I was thinking the same thing, but some dealers ask outrageous prices hoping to find that "fool" and separate him from his money. :)

Two months ago I paid $15,200 (they were asking $17,900) for my 2009 SS with 34,000 miles (certified used, which is worth a little extra cost).

Go for it. The only options it won't have will be the Brembos and limited slip.
