I`m having a hard time downshifting into first or second when rolling, it helps if i hold up the reverse lever up but i don`t think that`s right, anybody else having this problem , or know what might be causing it, only has 750 miles ??

Play with it for another week and see what happens. Part of my break-in was whenever sitting at a stop light constantly shifting 1-2-3-4-5-4-3-2-1 etc. until it felt pretty slick. Nothing worse than planning to downshift and floor it but then not being able to get into gear... That used to happen to me with my 2001 Audi A4 from 4-3 whenever I wanted to punch it on the freeway. Only 4-to-3, never any other shift. So played with it for a while at stop lights 3-4-3-4-3-4 etc. until it smoothed out.

Your not supposed to downshift into first while the cars rolling. They were made that way for a reason.

 

and of the 300 some odd standard cars and trucks i have driven that all did why would this be different? and that still doesn`t address the second gear issue!

 

you can downshift into first as long as youre under 20mph. rev up the rpm's a little and it will go in smoothly

 

Have not had an issue with mine.

 

give the throttle a little blip as you downshift.
that might help you out.
clutch in blip gas put it in lower gear and clutch out.

i had the same prob with this aswell as my focus st.
that took care of it for me

 

found out at the dealer it was the clutch, thanks for all the help

 

Yay rocco for that input! ??????? Anyone know if a six speed is in the works and if so, who makes it?
