HHR Shadow Edition SS

Guess who has ambition out the rear end, but not the bank to back it. I would SO love to mod my HHR Shadow Edition to make it an SS but for now don't have that kinda dough.
Does anyone know the parts I would need and how much each would cost by any chance?

Well if you are changing the performance it would be easier to add the Shadow trim to the SS vs the SS to the Shadow.

Since the Shadow was only a trim package the paint and trim would be much easier to transfer to a SS. Other wise you would have a lot more dollars than sense in the car.

To make it an SS you would need an interior suspension, body trim, wheels, exhaust, Computer and all needed electronics and entire drive line.

Now take a SS and bolt on the trim Shadow trim you may have a good chance of getting it done at a resonable price.

Not to discourage you but you would probably be better off buying an SS and making the switch to Shadow edition. Would be a lot cheaper imo.

But there were no used HHR SS's for $10,000+tax title and plate fees. This one was. :|

To my understanding it is really only the paint, and the Bright Chrome appearance package that makes it the Shadow Edition. I doubt there is even touch up paint for a body shop to match up to if I decided to get an SS bumper.

Touch up paint is not an issue You can buy it by the gallons. All a shop needs is the paint code.

Hint GM has used this metalic on other cars under a different name.

If the Shadow is what you can afford then enjoy it It is a very special HHR. You might add a SS nose and rear bumper resonable for a couple grand.

Now if you want to do suspension and drivetrain including wheels and tires you could have ten grand in parts alone let alone someone to install it if you can't.

The whole point is the price to make a Shadow into a SS would not be a cheap deal. The most affordable way to get a SS is to buy a used one. Yes they are a little more but no where as much as if you built it yourself.

If anything stick to the dream of the SS look and let it go at that. That dream is realistic. But I would drop the engine and suspension idea now. If you could not afford the SS in the first place there is no way you can afford to build one unless someone sells you a crashed one for $2K or less.

Does anyone have a parts code for the SS front bumper? And also, I wouldn't need to change the hoot/grille would I?
