HHR SS Cowl Induction Hood
I was watching some rain drops come off of the back edge of the scoop as I was driving down the road. When they came off they just hit the widshield. I don't think this body style creates high pressure at the base of the windshield like the cars in the 70's did. Your scoop is probably more "ram air" functional, you think?
Now the HHR is more rounded to let the air go around the car I believe.....a hood scoop could create the slam effect at the windshield again.
Key word..BugShield..it routes the air high over the roof, takes the air off the windshield...thats how bugs are reduced...bugshields really screw up the airflow..ask anyone who had them and what it did to the wipers at highway speeds...they lift away from the glass.
If you really want to see whats happening at the windshield on these cars, throw some rain-ex on it and watch the water patterns..they roll about a 45 deg towards the pillars..i only use wipers now in slow traffic, even in heavy rain, which seems to be the norm here, no wipers ..the nose area does a good job on the aerodynamics.
