HHR SS Towing hitch

Sorry if this has been discussed before, I tried searching. I'm a Chevy Salesperson and have a customer who wants an SS HHR, but need to haul a wheelschair. Does anybody know if a hitch will fit on an SS? Thank you!

A class 1 only will fit.

Per GM the SS is not designed for towing no matter what transmission you have.

xTooltipElement Service Information
2008 Chevrolet HHR | Chevrolet HHR Owner Manual | Document ID: 1911487
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

SS Package
If the vehicle has the SS package, it is neither designed nor intended to tow a trailer.

This is straight out of the 2008 owners manual I only copied the portion about the SS, the rest you can read in the manual under towing with an automatic transmission.

Will it fit? Yes, I don't think there is any differance in the subframe between the Standard and SS models. Since this is for a wheelchair and not towing (guessing hitchhaul type setup), would something need to be documented so it would not void his warranty?

By looking at and SS and a LT side by side, it appears the SS rear fascia is lower then the LT. I think someone is going to have to go by a installer and have them hold one up underneath it to see if it clears the bottom of the fascia. By the pictures I have seen in the gallery it looks like it may fit.

If used for hauling a wheel chair, I don't believe there would be any reason to deny warranty repairs since the manual doesn't state that you can't haul something on the back, it says you can't tow.

Can someone point out where it says the warranty will be void if you tow with an SS? Since when does not recommended mean your warranty is void?

I'm confused.

Actually they can't void your warranty for any reason. They can so they because of something you put on your vehicle did the damage to said part, if a claim arrises, they can deny payment to repair. But they CANNOT void a warranty for any reason.

Scotty is correct concerning mods! Thats why I didn't use the word void in my post. But a warranty can and is voided by GM on any vehicles with a salvaged title.

CAMENN....

Why not contact the GM Mobility Assistance people about that question? They have been, in the past, really good to work with.

Might even be able to provide discounted accessories.
