Thanks!

The 4.0 litre I-6 Cherokees seem to run forever. I had an '88 that I sold at 215k and the second owner is now closing in on 400k with the original drivetrain still going strong. My '99 "only" has 140k on the clock and still runs like new without burning or leaking a drop of oil. I'll miss the rugged nature of these beasts but it's time for a change (and some better mpg!).

roaddawg: GREAT PHOTO!! You really stirred-up some memories... (I wish I could find a photo of mine)... I didn't do many mods--but I do remember that I put an 8-track player/stereo in the glove box--pretty cool, open the gb door and there it is!.. I bought mine on the showroom floor at the Huntington Beach dealer...

What I really liked: there were not many of them out there!! (like HHR's)... And I thought the styling was "timeless" and "ahead" of others... And what a nice large trunk! And, like you said, great power! I kept that car until I got a new '82 BMW 320i... (and still missed the Opel!)..

The HHR is the first car I've been as enthused about--and so far, so GREAT!

Cool fact we had/have the same cars--hope we can meet someday @ one of the G2G's!!

Shaaa-zam! Dealer just pinged me with news that my order bumped today to status 3000 with a TPW (Target Production Week) of February 23. Finally some movement...looks like maybe a late winter/early spring arrival is in the works. I can live with that!

During the 9 years I owned it, I added some of the cool mods of the day:

* Pioneer AM/FM CASSETTE deck with FOUR speakers.

* Aftermarket wheels with wide RADIAL tires,

* Koni shocks

* Monza exhaust system,

* BOLDER windshield tint, and those ever popular

* Coco fiber floor mats!

Boy that was a fun car for sure and I miss it to this day. I remember beating up on Vega GTs and the four-popper Capris with that mighty 1.9 litre but the Datsun 510s were impossible to catch in the twisties. Funny now to consider what we used to call performance in the olden days.

Your color was called "Rallye Gold" and it was a pretty popular shade back then on the whole Opel line. So I guess were "soul brothers" again with our HHRs, eh?
it was tubbed, had a 4 link out back and a dual quad, tunnel rammed small block in it.

Hell yes, you needed them things to handle that mighty 1.9L plant that was churning out all of NINETY (gross, mind you) whole HP! Good old days? Not in the HP department, more like the DARK AGES!

Viva 2.0 Ecotech!!!

I would have gladly settled for the 8-10 weeks I was originally quoted. You need to play the lottery more sargechris!

Congrates, you know my story, but to let you know I to have had a status 3000 with TPW and that was lets see 41/2 months ago, I am praying that you get yours then and that mine is still on the March 9th TPW.
