so now that Gm has to straighten up and they axed the SS, wonder if it will drive the value of them up?
KBB has the SS listed as
2008 HHR SS
S.R.V. 17905
trade 13700-11425
private 15800-13600

HHR SS is still a go if...

They haven't axed the SS HHR. Although with the economy in a rut and the plant shut down temporarily, and the compnay's viability is under question, you can easily think that. The group involved in new concepts has been redeployed . The Camaro and Vette are still on - but no new SS concept cars will be designed or dreamed of for the time being.

THe HHR SS will be around as long as the HHR is around. Look for 2011 or 12 to be the end.

GM will still have other performance options. The GMPD was the only thing closes and their staff will now be involed directly with the plaforms.

I see fun cars still being around just not markted with SS emblems other than the Camaro.

No vlaues are not going anywhere unless demand returns to the market. Even cars like the Mustang GT are tanked used right now.

The SS will never be a high dollar collectable but they will be the one to have over the standard model for collectors.

Think Corvair, Fiero or Coswoth Vega.

The SS division of Chevy was closed to save money.
The production of current models will not be affected so I hear. All this would do is stop new models from coming to market until they get back to business.
The Camaro SS is still a go as are models already in production.

The truth is the CTS V coupe Cadillac is also still coming per Autoblog.com today.

Think of it this way the 60 engineers that were in the GMPD group are not in on platfoms and are now working and tuning the regular cars.

IF they can do what they did with the Cobalt and HHR ingine what effect they will have on the entire line up.

It also hides a Divison Staff the Idiot politcal over seers would not approve of.

The we will see future cars benift from this and I expect options that will make them exciting. Just don't expect them to be limited special edititons.

My buddy got a ride in a SS Camaro last night and was very impressed. So the are only days from the show rooms in April.

As much as I would like to see our SS's increase in value, the SAD truth is the HHR SS with under 20,000 miles that has been garaged and lovingly cared for is only worth half of what most of us paid for it!(I had mine apraised last week for $13,500) on a plus note, GM and the other automakers are in a great transition to something "diffrent". Is that Hydrogen, Lithium, electric roads? who knows. but to say for sure when the change comes, the HHR SS will be lovingly gazed upon as a work of Art! But, like every car of its time before. its gonna be a decade or so before the "super collectors" find room in their garages, although I could see someone like Jay leno having one stuck in a wharehouse somewhere with a sticker still in the window. For the rest of us, by the time mine is worth something.... It might not look like a HHR anymore
