I miss my baby.....

After reading this forum for a while, it made me miss my SS all the more...

It's parked for the winter to keep the winter road salt/sand off of it, and I'm driving my 96 cavalier.

Man, I miss my SS. It's going to be a long 4 months.

Am I the only one here who parks it for the winter, or do some of you share my pain?

No way. Just bought mine and it's already seen plenty of snow. Whenever it lets up for more than a day, it's getting a bath. What I really miss is my motorcycle. That won't be out until late feb or march or april; It depends on when the snow melts and the salt is cleared off the roads.

Thats the only thing to do up here in the salt belt I have only 3,100 miles on my 07 panel it will not be back on the road till May.My 96 saturn is my salt magnet paid $1,000 for it and it is in it`s 3rd winter plus I drive it to work every day.

The best part is when the HHR goes back on the road it`s like getting a new car every spring.I have not even drivin it in the rain yet.I still have my 1980 El Camino that I bought in 81 and put it away every year for the winter. If you plan on long term ownership like I am you have to take it off the road Nov.-May

Mines tucked away . . but more because I don't want to clear the snow to that driveway, clearing the snow to one driveway is enough! . . . once the snow melts, I'll get him out . . . it'll be like a new car all over again! He's keeping the Camaros company.

Daily driver here, and seen lots of snow.

But, doesn't feel like an SS, certainly by looking at it this winter. Covered in grey dirt on the black paint from road spray that can't be avoided. Black steel wheels and snow tires don't help (going to get new winter rims for next year) the look either. And, mine being completely debadged, for now, its a pretty plain looking car..really plain. Every so often I pull up a pic from the day we got it in April on the computer to see what it should look like!

When it warms up a bit I make sure to give it a quick rinse to clean it up a bit, but even with undercoating and paint protection, I pay attention to wheel wells so salt doesn't build up there.

That said, with the times we have clean dry road, being able to put the foot down and instant go, it feels like the SS again. But, other then an engine flooding issue, its being the reliable 1/2 of our daily drivers that we wanted first and foremost along with our Denali.

I guess you could say the SS part is in the garage until Spring for now, the practical part is out on the road these days.

Glad I'm not the only one :)

I intend on keeping this car for a long time, perhaps even long enough to eventually pass it on to my son. I'd rather a beater take the winter's worst than the SS.

Ordered the Stage Kit today, so I had a little bit of "excitement" in regards to the car. It really WILL be like getting a new car this spring, considering the added oomph it will have.

Those of you with the stage kit already - did you notice a substantial difference? I'm primarily interested in the low end (because really, where can you drive it fast enough to push it on the high end?)
