According to my dealer, I should be getting the Torrent GXP by the end of next week. The best part is that GM just announced new incentives on the Torrent that will be available when I pick it up... $1500 cash back or 0% financing! Woo hoo! I'm telling you guys this car is a real value (not to mention it's recommended by consumer reports, which is not an easy recommendation to get)! One 0% financing please...

One more thing to consider: Whether you like it or not, the HHR and PT Cruiser are similar cars. The resale on these kinds of cars is TERRIBLE right now, and will only get worse as the market gets even more saturated. I'm sure many of you don't care about resale (since the HHR SS is exactly what you want), but it is a realistic consideration. There have been A LOT of discussions on this forum of how dealers are selling 2006 and 2007 HHR's for much less than the sticker, which has a HUGE effect on used HHR prices. Some dealers still have 2006's on the lots and can't give them away. That worries me about the HHR, and it worried me about the difficulty I had with selling my like new loaded 2003 PT Cruiser GT... I had it priced $3000 under book value (and under trade in value as well), and didn't get a single call. The dealership that took the trade has it featured on the lot (since it is immaculate and gorgeous) and has had to cut the price A LOT over the last few months...

In the end, the HHR SS will be a GREAT car, but there were too many factors that steered me away from it and into a car that had more "pros" than the HHR SS offered.

Anyone else notice that when someone wants an HHR they praise it. But after not even buying one, they like to slam it.

Good luck with your look like every thing else soccer mom looking SUV. I bet I'll keep my HHR longer than you keep your SUV.

well misterjensen brings up a good point about the HHR's resale, it's prolly true... he has other good reasons to get his Torrent GXP, not the least of which is the AWD for Wisconsin winters.

I agree with solman98, tho, it does look like just another SUV...

but I'll stick to the HHR SS, I don't need AWD so much here in So Cal!

I like it when people use winter as the reason to get AWD/4X4's. I live 12 years in the rockies (Spokane Wash/Great Falls MT). I drove a RWD Mustang the entire time. The wife drove a RWD Mazda GLC and then a RWD Aerostar.

This past March, we had to go to NY for a funeral. ANd it started to snow in Penn on the way up there. Was bout 10"s in NY when we got there. We were not in the HHR but the MPV, and had no issues at all. My BIL commented that he didn't see many trucks as he would have though (he is a bondfied southern redneck, 4x4 and all ). Wifes uncle told him that 4x4's in the snow were worse than any FWD car. Power to 4 wheels means 4 wheels are sliding on ice. David, (BIL) just could not understand that.

Methinks the original poster gets paid a shiny new nickel each time he types the letters "the Torrent GXP."

Misterjensen

I think you made a wise choice. The Torrent GXP seems awfully nice. Also, as a former Wisconsin native now living in Minnesota I can say that all-wheel drive really helps out in snowy conditions. The Sonoma Red Metallic looks great and, if you tow, the 3500 lbs. of towing capacity far exceeds that of an HHR.

I love my HHR but it sounds like the Torrent GXP fits your needs better than an HHR. I hope you have a great experience with it.

Go Pack!!!!
