Intercooler
Intercooler
A crack has developed in my intercooler tank, I need to replace it. It sure doesn't take much of a crack to stop the car from idling or running.
I can get the stock factory part from gmpartsdirect for $300.
Or I can get the ZZP intercooler (smaller one that has more ground clearance) for $330.
As I understand it, the ZZP will connect directly to the factory tubing, is that correct?
Is it worth the extra $30?

I have a used, stock intercooler that I'd sell you for $50 U.S (and some other items per my old post). However, I'm in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada. I'd drive it to you but the border is closed these days and shipping costs would probably "kill the deal".
I thought that I would put this out there in case you could wait for the border to open or had some way to cross into Canada.

If the border were open I would take you up on your offer right away. Unfortunately I don't have a way to cross the border. Our company deals with one of our other locations in Markham, Ontario, but they won't even allow us to cross between the two locations.
I read recently that per Canada's request, the US agreed to close the border until June 21. They may even extend it, who knows.
My car is down now and I can't wait for 3 more weeks, unfortunately.
Thanks
steve

It would be hard for me to use the work shipping from our location in Canada because it's a big deal to set up a ship across the border (Commercial Invoice, customs, etc).
I just ordered the ZZP intercooler, hopefully it will come by the weekend.
Steve
Shipping is still fine across the border, if a bit slower.

You know what this means, don't you?
Getting a better aftermarket intercooler starts off a whole series of mods...new turbo plumbing, new tune, etc.
Let the mods begin!
But first I have to change out the timing chain and its parts to make sure I have a good setup there. It's probably the original chain and it's at 130K miles.
