I've joined the club. CEL + Limp Mode

Here I thought I'm all fine, never a problem in 2 years or 21000 miles. Here's what happened.

Wifey was driving the SS to Subway. When she was leaving, she starts it up, puts it in reverse and the engine starts shaking and stalls. Then around ten times, she starts it, it revs up to 2000rpm and then drops down, starts shaking and stalls. So the check engine light is on, she mistakes for the battery light, calls the AAA jump start service. 1/2 hour later the guy gets there and says, your battery is not dead. He starts it and it keeps running but runs rough. So she drives it home. I get home. Start it up, drive around the block and it's in limp mode.

The codes:
P0338 Crankshaft Position (CKP) Sensor Circuit High Duty Cycle (once)
P0101 Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor Performance (twice)

It's bone stock including the ac delco air filter.

So it's at the dealer and they're checking it. I also noticed that the transmission was coated with oil which they're also checking.

Since youre stock they will take care of you. They have to do a relearn on the crank sensor and such. The trans thing could be a problem of its own but theyhave to fix everything.

OK. They're going to replace the crankshaft sensor, and the oil leak coming from a camshaft cover gasket. They're also going to replace the high pressure fuel pump gasket.

And they gave me an Enterprise rental car... GM will only pay for a GM vehicle rental on a warranty job.. The only GM vehicle they had on the lot was this gas guzzling beast:

Update, they fixed the leaking stuff, but still were not able to get it to run right. They said they ordered a new Mass Air Flow sensor and it should be in tomorrow. This truck is killing me with the gas!

OK. Heres the deal:

Ecotec LNF 2.0 Valve Cover Gasket 12609291
Fuel Pump Gasket 12595951
Fuel Pump Mounting O-ring 12600313
Fuel Line Pipe 12615401
Sealant 12378521
Crankshaft Position Sensor 12588992
Mass Airflow Sensor 15865791

Intercooler 25969961

To fix the oil leak they "Resealed camshaft cap as per GM document ID 237186", and replaced the high pressure fuel pump gasket.

To fix the P0336 and P0101, they replaced the crankshaft position sensor and mass airflow sensor.

As for the no boost condition...... "Found large crack in RH plastic tank of intercooler". Asked if the car had been hit in the front... Said that damage is not usually covered by factory warranty, but since they had the car so long in diagnosing the problem they would cover it. Asked my wife "did you hit something with the car?" "Oh year, I hit the curb at subway just before this problem started" Look underneath the bottom of the bumper cover is all torn up.... This is the 8th time she has f&*#ed up the front end of a car on a curb in a parking lot (she did this twice to the 07 hhr). That doesn't count the 2 times she #^&*ed up the back end of a car on a curb. What I need is a small, very small car, with the front end so high that nothing except the tire will hit the curb if she pulls up too close. Any suggestions?

There are two of the board:
1. buy and install a "defender of the crankcase";
2. neat ride.

to GEG; It sounded like you had two suggestions. Was this the second one?
