Is it just my area or are SS prices going up?

I have been finding more and more SS with average miles going for $19,999 at dealers.

I have seen a couple in Columbus and I just saw one last night at the dealer I bought mine at in Akron. It was not loaded as it lacked the sun roof and rack also has a lesser radio. It was not in the best of conition either as the front bumper has been scared a few places.

A year ago these SS were 15-16K here. I have seen the same with the G8 as the prices have gon up from 18K to 22-24K depending on the trim here.

Has demand for used ones gone up since they stopped the SS?

The dealer asking $19K ere sold a cleaner used 08 last year for 16K.

One thing that is cool is we went from just two SS at work to a third one now. Someone must have bought one the other day. It was a little dirty but looked in good condition.

Wink I got a letter from my local Ford Dealership.

He was offering me $17,500 as trade in value toward a new Ford, PLEASE.
He was saying that demands for used HHR's has increased, and Chevy not making them anymore has helped for the demand.
I went ahead and filed that one in the trash can.

Used car prices as a whole have gone up over the past year. Except for trucks, especially 3/4 & 1 tons. We are having a hard time with those at auction.

I have seen most prices get a little better on used cars. But the regular HHR's have still been cheap here and range $9,000-12,000 for low mileage LT's and LS models.

The SS here was getting down to $15,000 and of late they seem to be back to dealers asking $19,000-20,000. I have seen the same with G8's.

I saw a G8 GT last night that the Buick dealer that had it was asking $28,000 and my buddy just sold his for almost $25,000.

When the Chevy dealer is asking almost as much as I paid them for a better new one makes me think that them stopping the SS may be a good thing to help me in retaining value.

Just for grins, I checked the San Fran bay area prices for HHR-SS. Thet are going from $17,000 to $19,900, depending on mileage. Seven or eight locally. Maybe they are going up in price.

You are correct, trade up value went up since last year.

Thats one of the reasons I got rid of my 09 HHR SS, got rid of it while the value of it was up.

I got $18,630 trade in value, max was $18,900, but i had a scratch on my rear bumper.

They are selling mine for $22,900, but it only has 14k miles on it and it was a 5 speed, Brembo/LSD package, red/blk interior.

I bought a brand new 09 ss in Feb of 2010 for 26k and sum change and recently totaled it. Loved the car so much I had to get another. Found an 09 with 13k miles locally that went for 18k...unfortunately I didn't jump at it fast enough. Had to search throughout the country and found a 2010 fully loaded, brembo, LSD, pioneer system, Gm stage 1 upgrade ( per my request ), 1,700mi, and all the other goodies for 20.8k. Got a good deal but I wish I woulda jumped on the first one before they sold it.

Nice that you were able to find one with such low miles and lots o' goodies. I'm really going to miss mine when is it's over (34k and counting)...

All the SS vehicles, which have been discontinued, are going up in price vs. 2009/2009.

The last 2 years I have bought three SS, the HHR, an Impala and a Trailblazer.

All I bought used with low miles, all three we're well cared for, all had extended warranties from GM.

I am looking for another HHR SS or a Trailblazer for our second home and from time to time go on the web to have a look.

6 months ago all chevy SS's were falling out of the trees and there was always a special one with low mileage.

Today most of the SS's are higher mileage or roughly used.

My thought of this is two fold. Either the main owner's of all SS's keep them a long time, or there just weren't that many of the market.

I do know the hardest to find is the Impala SS with the HHR SS a close second. Every survey I read from owners shows one one side they would like higher quality materials, but on the other hand most of the owners drive them until the wheels fall off and never want to see them go.

It's funny, I was looking at the news of the Focus ST wagon. Seems pretty cool, except it has a much less usable storage space than the HHR and isn't really any faster.

Build quality is higher but you can get in the very high $30,000 and when I think I bought my HHR SS with 12,000 miles, was perfectly cared for and had the dealer throw in tax, title, extended warranty and liscense for a total of $18,000 I kind of realize I should have bought two right then.

I keep saying it, but there is nothing to match the HHR SS sold in this country today and I'm not talking about the retro look.

In fact I'll be glad when mine is out of warranty because then I'm going to have it totally tricked out by an LA custom shop.

A semi matte dark black, with full moon's, chrome mirrors, grill less front with louvers, metal front spliiter and a semi exposed IC.
