License Plate install problem solved by MR ANAL!!!
License Plate install problem solved by MR ANAL!!!
I thought that might get your attention
When I first got the SS, I noticed that everytime you closed the hatch, the plate would vibrate against the body. Being as ANAL as I am, could not have that happen now, could I???? Some of you may already have corrected the problem, but for those who have not and would like to, here is what I did....
First I found a license plate holder, but it still banged, so I used plastic ties on the bottom 2 holes to the holder, did not look great, but did the job, that was in addition to using clear plastic bumpers on the back of the plate.
Now when I got my new plate, I ended up painting the holder BFM, came out good, but I was in a rush and messed up the paint, has to be redone. So what I did was use the plastic (round) bumnpers on the back of the plate at the corners, and anywhere that the plate may contact the body. On the bottom of the plate between the 2 mounting holes, I used the soft sided velcro there. Now when I shut the hatch, the plate doesn't move, therefore not banging against the body and possibly marking it up. I may not even do the plate holder at all........MR. ANAL can now get some sleep

Great idea, just got my plate on today and noticed the hitting also. So I just put some self stick felt on the back for now. I'll cut a more custom piece this weekend when I gut her to finish my stereo install.

The bottom holes in the liftgate should have rubber bumpers installed, mine were missing from the factory...I think they get the assembly finished & hurry the thing out the door, forgetting this minor detail!
Yer not alone SSroadster.
My plate kinda sticks out away from the rear gate at the bottom, and i also was concerned(bothered) by this.
Still have the dealer's plate holder on mine , until i replace it with something of my liking and then i'll prob do something to let the plate lay a lil better and not flap/bounce around like other people's vehicles i see on the road.
