Liftless Shifting
Hit your traction control button twice. The on dash display should read "Competition Mode" when you are at a stop. Peg to go pedal to the floor and watch the tach bounce at about 4500-5000 rpm. Dump the clutch. Once you gain traction, keep it pegged to the floor as your shift gears (do utilize the clutch, just don't let up on the gas) and the vehicle will stay at about 5000 rpm, which is peak for boost.
OK, thanks JAXFL SS. I'll give it a try as soon as the roads dry up. After competition mode, it goes to launch ready. Do I leave it there, or do I have to reset that after shifting to 5th?
Is that a safe practice in these vehicles? How much of that can the vehicle withstand? Just curious...ours is an automatic (and not an SS) so it's not something we'll ever be able to do.

^ I've also been curious as to how much no-lift shifting these cars can take. I only use the feature occasionally, and man is it fun. Not losing boost between gear changes makes the car feel so much faster. But it does happen with a pretty big 'thunk' noise, and if it's going to cause an early end to my tranny, I'd definitely stop. Anyone have some technical insight to this?
It is safe and will not damage a thing. The computer controls the throttle and kills the power faster than you could with your foot. I is enough to keep the boost up and not lose it.
GM would never put it on if it would damage anything. Odds are greater that you would miss a shift and damage something your self.
The system works and is safe but it does feel weird to do it after being traind not to do such things.

i like to do it every now and then to "clear the pipes". The backfire on shifts will put them off your tail...
