Limited power in 1st & 2nd gear

I've read in a couple posts and around the net that the output power in first and second gear is limited to 235HP then increases to 250HP in third and fourth.

I had a Suzuki TL1000 that had the timing retarded in gears 1-5 to limit wheel spin off the line and to keep you from flipping it over! There was a mod which was simply a resistor plugged into the wiring harness that told the computer the bike was always in 6th gear where the timing was left alone. It made it a lot of fun to ride when you weren't at wide open throttle. It made for quick wheelies with a simple flick of the wrist.

My question is has there been any such mod for the automatic tranny?

Hey, luckybiggs! I've 'bout decided that 1st & 2nd gear detuning may just be a false rumor. If you look at the following link, you'll see the 235 hp peak happens just at the point where the 222 lb-ft torque has peaked. By the time the HP peaks at 250, torque has dropped off to around 205 lb-ft. The only thing we don't know is how the dyno test was conducted. On a stand or at the front wheels?

I think that the tuning of the new HHR SS is going to take some time, maybe till the cobalt drops and the tuners get ahold of it. The computer is very smart and will learn mods and de-tune to its stock max hp. You hit the rev limiter so fast, would the extra 15hp really make a diff in first gear?? Its going to be awhile before some one figures these things out. I would be more worried about traction over hp at this point. Just my

I have had both a GXP and the HHR SS, both with the same LNF motor and I am SURE the motor's boost level and thus hp is reduced in 1st gear. 2nd and
up are normal, at least in stick. Power may be reduced in 1 and 2 with automatic like you suggest.

I have HPT and have logged data and I see about 10 psi in 1st going up to
12 psi after the WG mod. 2nd gear and up, I see 15-18 psi. I believe boost
and thus power is reduced in the HHR SS vs the Solstice GXP cause the SS
being fwd has traction issues cause of weight transfer off the driving wheels
at WOT. I could launch the GXP at full 15 psi in 1st gear.

I believe you will see the autos have about 10 psi or so in the first 2 gears,
raising up afteer that. Guys with autos, please confirm what the boost
gauge is reading in 1st and 2nd gears???
