Loud at cold start up????

Does anybody else think that there SS is loud for a minute or two at cold start up and I dont mean 32 below. I dont know if that has something to do with the turbo or something might be goin on? Also has anybody had there brakes feel like manual brakes if you try to move it right after starting? Maybe I'm going nuts but im trying to get all my facts together before it goes back to the dealer for some little stuff.

I have noticed both. The motor is VERY loud at start up, and the brakes feel like the booster is not working or something. But both go away once you start driving it though

Being loud on a cold start is nothing unusual, it's okay.

And as far as the brakes not feeling normal after driving right away... simple... don't drive right away, at least let the vacuum and RPM's fall down to normal idle range.

That's how I do it.

Most turbo cars are this way.

Yeah there's a pretty loud wooshing noise for a minute or so after a cold start on my HHR SS, I just assumed it was normal. The throttle and brakes both feel strange before the idle settles down to below 1000 rpm as well.

This is an amazingly sophisticated engine and drivetrain, I'm not surprised it's a little quirky compared to other cars I've owned.

My dad commented on how loud mine was when we first picked it up, he told me it needed a muffler . I told him to relax and it would quiet down and it did.

It's louder than other turbo cars I have but I don't really care. I'm still old school enough to let the turbo warm up a bit before I drive anyway.

You will also notice the ticking noise from the direct injection system.......a normal sound as well. Hey, we have a rather specialized and sophisticated powertrain here.
