Yes, I have a similar sound... is this it?Originally Posted by RDREDSS

I had solved the console noise last year and this year when it was really cold I had a noise in the passenger foot well.
I unsnaped the side covers of the center stack in the foot wells and used the butyl rubber that solved my console noise to solve my side cover noise.
That did the trick. My HHR is now as quiet or more quiet as the day I picked it up.
butyl rubber is a the best thing I have ever used to silence noise in a vehicle. It works as a gasket or silencer. It sticks to where ever I put it and it comes off if needed with out breaking anything.
The Rubber I use is the kind they use to put the windshield in a car. It comes in a roll and has paper backing. The windshield guy gave me some when he replace my truck windshield. He gave me two rolls and said keep this because it comes in handy. He was right.
The snap on plastic panels in the new cars just do not remain as tight as the old screw in panels. Also the plastic hitting on plastic is just a prime place for noise.

You guys don't know squeaks and rattles until you've driven an AMC-built Jeep XJ Cherokee. After about 10k miles, my '88 produced a virtual symphony of them. After tracking down and fixing (or trying to fix) the first dozen, I gave up and just turned up the volume on the radio for the next 205k miles! But my Chrysler built '99 XJ Cherokee was actually a very tight car with almost no problems in that area. They redesigned the interior and drastically cut down on the number of pieces that went into it.
Still no rattles in my SS at 12k miles --- keeping fingers crossed!!!

Have same issue...Dealer never hears/finds it. Mine started as what your describing, now I hear it all the time. This weekend I aim to fix it.Originally Posted by RDREDSS

Oh yeah...love the "could not reproduce" excuse...I've heard that so many times from all sorts of vendors/dealers...especially my Chrysler dealer, when it came to my PT GT.
Anyway, I get random rattles here and there, but I can't say I'm that surprised by it...the SS boasts a terrific, jack-of-all-trades motor (and for a reasonable price can be easily upgraded without voiding the warranty), the equivalent of a body kit with its front, side, and rear effects, awesome rims, and a tuned suspension that need not be messed with. For the performance we're getting at our price point (just under $25k for my '09), it's obvious that GM had to go cheap SOMEWHERE, and let's face it, with our cars it's clearly the interior. I do like it (especially the red and black...gives the interior a lot of style and spice), but like almost every reviewer has noted, cheap plastic abounds. And cheap plastic leads to random squeaks and rattles. Not ideal, but that's what iPods and XM are for...can't be annoyed by what I can't hear.

Dealer fixed 2 rattles in my 2LT. One was in the dash, and may have been from air freshener that fell behind things (former owner). The other was that the rear hatch was misaligned. My HHR is amazingly quiet now, as those were the only two things that were rattling, and the noise isolation from road noise is great (compared to my super-loud S2000 which also just had rattles repaired).

Very quiet here except for the whistle of turbocharger
That noise I really enjoy!

Whistle while you work! That's what I was doing today on my way to a bunch of meetings. I've probably put at least 5K miles on my SS driving for work, not including my daily commute to the office.Originally Posted by Kev&Chers{SS}
