Magnaflow catback and down pipe prototype..

Got the car back from magnaflow last night.

Car made 250whp 249wtq sae on there dyno jet stock (1200miles/4th gear).

3" Catback made a tad over 6 whp peak (more under curve)

3" Catted down pipe (single cat) made approx the same whp

Together the car dynoed at 265 whp 269 tq (CB/DP)

There are areas where the car picked up as much as 20+ hp/tq at the wheels.

The system is 3" stainless with a polished muffler and a 4" tip

In my opinion its a tad loud (I don't like loud and tend to be a little sensitive) with both peices installed. We are gonna do a 3" core resonator in the same place as the factory peice to try and make it a little quieter.

Car sounds good...nice deep tone

You can feel the extra tq

I think there is more to be had but the computer is gonna fight you all the way. The new PCM seems to adjust boost accordingly. The car actuually picks up power when the engine temp is at 200(compensates for heat with boost).

I think with a tune the car will make 300+ whp with DP/CB

Pics..

Dyno.....

Stock/CB

Stock/ CB and DP

All dynos were done with hood closed and with engine operating temps of 180-200.

They just put up the sound clips on there site....click on video for HHR (launch/drive by)

Looks clean. They did a nice job.

Have you noticed any loss of boost during WOT?

I would expect CB MSRP to be in the $480-550 range (you will be able to get it for closer to $400 I imagine through internet distributors)

I think they have considered doing the non catted DP but until there is tuning readily avaliable you will have a problem with check engine lights.

no loss of booost.....computer seems to control boost and do what it wants depending on temp and altitude. (If we can get these things to hold 20+ pounds it will be a monster)

Are you going to re-dyno after they install a resonator, or is there enough confidence that it won't effect the numbers posted?
