Mazda3 and HHR

Coming home from work today I had a Mazda3 (I think) on my tail and I knew as soon as we hit the 4 lane he was going to come around. So at about 35 mph in 2nd gear I let him come and I nailed it. Got thru 3rd gear and into 4th
(80 mph I guess) and we just stayed even. I was hoping for much more. I have the GM upgrade????

Most likely a Mazdaspeed 3 (turbo with 263 hp and 280 lb-ft of torque). Also, you don't know if they had further modifications.

Man I hope so. I was feeling a little down about the upgrade and was hoping to redeem the $800.00 it cost. When I wasn't walking away from the Mazda I was thinking thisn sucks. I got to look at some pictures of the Mazdas. If I recall, it did look a little more aggresive than a typical Mazda3.

That "smiling clown face" front end will take some getting used to. It reminds me of the semi in the old Stephen King movie, Maximum Overdrive. It'll probably grow on people.

Looked at some pictures of the Mazdas. It was a Mazdaspeed 3. Didn't have the hood scoop so it would be 2009 or older.

More than likely the mazda was wondering how you were staying with him.

First off know your prey. Most of them are sitting at 263 HP. Also he would weigh in at 2600-2900 pounds well under you're 3200 pounds.
If you are going to play be smart and know who you are messing with. The 40 added HP is not going to over come 500-600 pounds.

A Cobalt SS is more suited for this job. at 2815 pounds. You have to remember the HHR is quick but it weighs a lot more than most other small cars.

I agree he may have been shocked such a larger heavier vehicle was keep with him.

Note we do like seeing positive post too.
