Sorry, didn't seem to sound so negative. At the time I was questioning myself about the upgrade a Mazda3 was keeping up with me. I did feel a lot better after finding out what I was keeping behind me. I mentioned it to a coworker who knows the car. Says the Mazdaspeed 3 isn't stock. :)

The front end of that car is hideous.

guessing you mean 2900, the thing is, that's pretty much the difference between a cobalt ss and hhr ss. that 300lbs depending on options is a pretty big difference. also he was saying the hhr was a lot heavier, in which they are a lot closer in weight than he was trying to state. not throwing a fit, just making the point that the ms3 is not cobalt weight and doesn't underweigh the hhr by much, depending on options, fuel amount, and driver weight they could weight the exact same opposed to a 300lb difference lol.

I test drove both and had a mazdaspeed6 and will say that a stock hhr ss might be a tick slower than a speed3, but now that I have the trifecta tune, my hhr would smoke a ms3 and a ms6. The best I got stock with my ms6 was a 14.2@98 which isnt bad, but I can almost guarantee a 13 second slip with my ss on the first attempt(unless I boil the tires off the line, which is a possiblility)

3180 pounds for a 2008 and 3245 pounds for the 2010,

Not enough weight to make a differance. It was a lot heavier than I expected since the base Mazda 3 can come in under 3000.

These were given curb weights by Mazda.

Funny how many complain about the Camaro's weight when the 3 is a little porker itself.
