my '10 SS
my '10 SS
Well, Ive had my '10 hhr ss crystal-red 5-speed for over a month now. I drove from michigan to California and back and just hit 6500 miles on it.
Here were some of the experiences-
mpg was between 26 and 32- 28 mpg from Michigan to colorado where the hills/alitiude/heavy foot, caused the mpg to go down to 26. Let me tell you, nothing could keep up going up the grades- holding 80 mph in 5th I never needed more than 5 psi boost, There was no need for 4th gear, unless a truck pulled out in front of me. I had some cars on my but, they though it was just a normal hhr...until I opened it up, they didn't bother me anymore. So, driving back from Arizona, I averaged 30-32 mpg with the cruise set around 70, depending on the speed limit (tons of cops).
Drove thru 2 major windstorms, one pitted up my windshield a little but the ss wasnt bothered too much with the cross winds. Fortunatly, I applied a clear bra on all the front paint before I left so there was no paint damage- not one rock chip the whole trip!
The SS ran perfectly, no wheel vibrations, no rattles, and very little wind noise.
I had several comments at the gas stations- "nice ride", "great color". No one seems to know anything about the SS, too bad they will stop making them.
So, if anyone is looking to buy a fun 4-door thats from an American car company, a little different and somewhat of a sleeper, go out a get one before they are all gone!

Totally agree. I bought my Silver Ice last month as well and couldn't be happier with it. After I bought it, I discovered this was the last year for the SS and I am glad I picked one up before they were all gone. Mine was also close to the end of production from what I have heard. I was told they stopped production in April and mine was built in March. Not sure on the exact day yet but non the less, it satisifed everything I was looking for. I deliver pizza on the weekends and have had some great comments on the car, including one from a current SS owner. The best though came from a women who opened the door and said "Now, I know that ain't no company car". Although I wish it was.

Good to see you are enjoying your SS. Quite a few members have issue with the pitting windshield and you are lucky to have applied the clear bra as it doesn't take much to receive chips on our rides. As for new members coming to post complaints, that's part of what this forum is for. Not all people are GM/Chevy/HHR fanatics but most aren't haters either. Life isn't all rainbows and lollipops
I also have just bought a 2010 SS. What a great car. I have zero complaints. Where did you buy your clear bra? How difficult was it to install. I bought one for my o7 HHR and gave up installing it after 3 hours of getting no where. Tell me how you did it
Clear Bra is a term related to paint protection film or PPF. Check out www.tintdude.com

Just got back from a 400-mile round trip to Delaware and the car once again performed awesome. This week I will hit 40K miles on the 08 and I haven't had any major issues with it. Averaged about 30 MPG in the 90+ degree heat with the A/C cranked.
sweet! we get the same often, nice responses. Ruby is doing awesome. 1500 on the clock now. LOVE the car and driving it. Alot of fun. Cant wait for the upgrade too! A car that always makes me happy, now thats love lol
