No. But there is a certain freeway in Houston that we do honestly refer to as our daily dose of NASCAR. That, and there is plenty of straight freeway with literally no cars, no side streets, and no on ramps for miles. I had room to go faster, but I was afraid the antenna was gonna come through the sunroof.
They didn't, actually. Story time.
I had just gotten back on the road in the evening after a break. I was going the speed limit at that point because there was quite a bit of traffic and I had just crossed down from Missouri. Out of nowhere, an old (90's) Lincoln Towncar came speeding up behind me, swerving through traffic and driving on the shoulder. I'm not talking about average speeding and passing; he must have been completely wasted. He was driving over the wake-up strips, and when I gave him a very wide berth to pass, I saw that there were no plates on the car at all. At that point I feared for my life and my car, so I sped away. He disappeared to god knows where when I was about 20 cars in front of him so I started to slow down. At that point, my radar detector went nuts and there was suddenly an officer behind me. I was probably doing 10-15 over when he got me. I immediately started to evaluate whether or not the officer would believe my story about the Lincoln, and waited for him to turn on his lights. He was now tailgating me, quite obviously running my paper plates. I waited, and I waited, and I waited, nervously trying to avoid the smallest of mistakes. He followed me for at least ten miles, and another officer join the following. They suddenly turned on their lights, and I slowed down to pull over. Then they cut across traffic, exited, and sped off the other way. I guess the Lincoln had a wreck. Next time I may pull over and let him run my plates on the side of the road so I don't have to sit there on needles.

The brakes are good, tires fair
Pulled out of San Pedro late one night

We was drivin' up Grapevine Hill
Passing cars like they was standing still
All of a sudden in a wink of an eye
A Cadillac sedan passed us by
I said, "Boys, that's a mark for me"
By then the tail light was all you could see
Now the fellas was ribbin' me for bein' behind
So I thought I'd make the Lincoln unwind
Took my foot off the gas and man alive
I shoved it on down into overdrive
Wound it up to a hundred-and-ten
My speedometer said that I hit top end
My foot was glued like lead to the floor
That's all there is and there ain't no more
Now the boys all thought I'd lost my sense
And telephone poles looked like a picket fence
They said, "Slow down! I see spots!
The lines on the road just look like dots"
Took a corner, sideswiped a truck
Crossed my fingers just for luck
My fenders was clickin' the guardrail posts
The guy beside me was white as a ghost
Smoke was comin' from out of the back
When I started to gain on that Cadillac
Knew I could catch him, I thought I could pass
Don't you know by then we'd be low on gas
We had flames comin' from out of the side
Feel the tension, man, what a ride!
I said, "Look out, boys, I've got a license to fly"
And that Caddy pulled over and let us by
Now all of a sudden she started to knockin'
And down in the dips she started to rockin'
I looked in my mirror; a red light was blinkin'
The cops was after my Hot Rod Lincoln
They arrested me and they put me in jail
And called my pappy to throw my bail
