My second pre-mod

i finally recieved the SS grill frame. i plan on removing the bowtie and fabricating a formed aluminum mesh grill.

i am doing these mods while waiting on my '09 SS panel to get built. here is the brand new grill frame before i start. does anyone with a SS know what these two studs are for at the backside of this frame? i will end up losing them when i trim the center bar of its bowtie.

There's a metal bracket that goes from top to bottom for support, on my LS.

I'd say that is what these are for too. The stud on the bowtie is where it screws to, the other I don't know.

just snapped this one for you. the tab one seems to be used to properly locate the plastic grill into the frame, and the round one is used for that metal support rod. not sure how it would affect it without having that rod.

That's what I've always thought too. Maybe with a black honey-comb mesh grill.
