need to find a turbocharger
My 2009 Chevy HHR SS with 106,000 miles has a blown turbocharger.
$500 for labor. GM wants $1,300 for a new turbo. The shop says I can get my own and they will install. I can get an OEM one for $900 from buyautoparts.com 2009 Chevrolet HHR Turbocharger Turbocharged Models 40-30171 AN Has anyone dealt with buyautoparts? Thanks. |
ZZP Brand new take off for $700
- LNF OEM Turbo Assembly # Hope that helps or if you want an extra kick in the pants the ZFR is 2K |
Give gmpartsoutlet.net a shot. You can usually get $8 shipping plus a big online discount.

There should've a thread here on how to change the turbo
|

replaced turbocharger
Got the oem turbo I bought from autoparts.com installed. Six hours labour. Runs as good as new now. Plenty of acceleration.
I have kept the old one. The bearing were obviously shot, the fan will not budge. |
Do you know why the old one failed. Bearing seizure could be a sign of oil starvation to the turbo. If you did not address the root cause of the first ones failure you could be looking at the loss of this new one too.

Maybe, but it had 106,000 miles on it. When it went, the car was burning oil, indicating that oil was going through the turbo. But I will keep that in mind.
Are you suggesting that a turbo should only last 106xxx miles? |
Per Donbrew...
