Is there anyway to upgrade the tranny to have a higher max engine torque rating? Apparently the actual gearbox can hold up pretty well so a whole rebuild shouldn't be necessary. What parts would need to be replaced to hold lets say a minimum of 300lb/ft of torque?

I don't know anything about rebuilding/upgrading the 4T45 transmission. I'll have to do some research to find out.

let's see if I can get these thoughts to make sense!!!

if I remember correctly, the TQ comes in around 1600 rpm's on the SS auto. That being the case, what if any TQ strain is being put on the input shaft, if any after that point. If the current setup which goes up 15 HP in 3rd & 4th gear to 250 HP from 235 HP, can we safely say that there is no strain put on the input shaft at that time??? Now if that is true, and let's say that the PPC tuner is being adjusted to make more substantial HP in 3rd & 4th gear than it already does, what if any effect will this have on the input shaft of the trans???? If none is the correct answer and lets just say that the HP goes up to 280 in 3rd & 4th gear, then the SS Auto would feel like a rocket when shifting from 2nd to 3rd!!!! Let's just say that can happen, what effect would it have on the trans at that point? I know TQ is what really moves the engine and gets the power to the ground, but we would have a hell of a ride if we spiked 45 HP in 3rd & 4th gear. Now, this is just thinking out loud, and there are members here that are way more versed in the techincial aspects than I will ever be, just thought it be interesting to think about.

On a side note, when I went to MECCA II this past May at the Solstice/Sky plant, when they mentioned the Stage comming out this summer, I do remember the rating being 290 HP for the 5spd and 288 for the Auto on those cars (only the LNF engines). I should have questioned why the 2 HP difference between the two and also asked about our SS's, but I did not.
