New member looking at SS

Hi to all. Just joined this site since I am interested in buying an HHR SS. I belong to the Corvette and Avalanche sites also. I have found that the best thing to do before buying is to listen to the people who have one. Drove a black auto SS yesterday and was impressed. I will probably get a stick though since there is a pretty good difference in horsepower. I need to get a daily driver since the Avalanche only gets 15 MPG. I look forward to sharing info with everyone.

Welcome to the site. Justed dumped a Ram 1500 that was only giving me 14-15 in nice weather and upper 12- mid 13mpg in cold, before that had a Silverado with 5.3L that got 15-18mpg yr round. and now have a 2LT not yet 2 wks old. More and more members are popping up with their new SS's.

Right on. I was commuting with a Silverado 4x4 at 16.5 mpg, so I am loving the 27 MPG I am averaging so far with my SS. Sure like having half a 16 gal tank and 239 miles to go. Plus my commute time has gone down by 5 min each way, and the fun factor is up by 1000%. Don't get me wrong, Silverado was a great vehicle, and I will need to figure out some work-arounds (rental?) for when I actually need a truck. Absolutely get the stick unless you are physically challenged or drive stop and go every day. Ridiculous to get the automaic otherwise, lame excuses aside.

This SS I have coming will be my third HHR. It's a fun vehicle and even though I could buy anything, I just find these things to be "right" for me, especially the SS. My wife's Avalanche rarely gets driven these days, what with gas getting alot more expensive. If I feel the need to go out and get crazy I just take off in my old hot rod and burn some rubber.

Thanks for the welcome. I have pretty much decided on the manual. I got the six speed auto in the Vette and I like it a lot, however it is a V8 with 400 horsepower so there isn't much of a performance loss in that car. The four cylinder needs the manual IMO.

now just do head/cam/and a d-1sc and make over 600rwhp w/ it I actually prefer the 6l80 vettes, to the t-56, we took one to memphis that made 651 rwhp and still got 28 mpg on the highway. and the 6l80 loved it

Just got my HHR SS today

BowTie, welcome to the site!!!!!

Just go buy one! Stop procrastinating!

Just got my victory red HHR SS with AT today. It is my third HHR. I am replacing my sunburst orange 2LT with the SS, but keeping it until I sell it. Wife has an amethyst 2LT and really loves it. Like the interior of the SS much better, especially the power window switch located on the doors instead of on the console. BIG performance change, as expected.
