Maybe a clue:
The good stuff copied from the Solstice forum:
"The Californa Air Resources Board (CARB) published a CARB cert for this tune today. It was executed on Aug 22nd. This means that this tune will be 50 state legal, does in fact exist, and is probably close to release.
From the cert:
"The LNF Turbocharged Ecotec Upgrade Kit includes a calibration update, two mass air flow/intake air temperature sensors (TMAP sensors) to replace the stock manifold absolute pressure sensor and the TMAP sensor, and installation hardware."
The hardware part number is 12626990.
The calibration part numbers are:
2007 auto trans : 12625958
2007 manual trans : 12625959
2008 auto trans without electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625952
2008 manual trans without electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625954
2008 auto trans with electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625951
2008 manual trans with electronic vacuum pump for brake assist : 12625953
2008 chevy hhr auto trans : 12625956
2008 chevy hhr manual trans : 12625957
2008 chevy cobalt manual trans : 12625955
There are no performance numbers issued with this as CA is just certifying emissions."

No word yet on what it entails but here is my guess.
I suspect they will add boot but they will make the computer soften the shift points. GM has been doing this alot as they will pull the timing for only a faction of a sec during the shift.
Also the I suspect at first launch it will be soft but once it is rolling it will spool up fast.
The problems are only at launch and gear changes so there is a lot of room to add power in between.
GM has been doing this in many of their performance cars to make drive trains live. THe GXP V8 GP is a good example.
It is best to say GM's changes will be a safe product and will back it up. This is something most others will not do.
As for the many aftermarket tuners. It is like any other car hit and miss. Some are very good and well sorted and some will trash your car. The GTP guys found this out the hard way in 04 with the new 3800 SC Series III. They had a lot of broken pistons and trannys.
Best thing to do is right here. Let others do the testing and see how they hold up. Word spreads about the good products fast so see what the guys here learn.

Question on the GM Stage upgrades ---does this have to be installed by a dealership for the GM warranty to still be valid?
I.E. - Buy the car now, order the kit in 2 months and install myself?
Or I could wait 2 months and try and con them into the install for a little to no cost

Matt,
If I can get Les Stanford to Locate it for you, I know I could get them to install it pretty cheap. I will have to do some talking, if they dont do it faily cheap, I nkow they would do it at the dealer employe price. Which is what I will end up doing. There mechanics are pretty well on top of their stuff too!

Can't blaime them...
They also want to sell this option to you at the time the car is new so they can talk you into just financing this with you new vehicle.
Since this is done on the dealer level you may be able to work some kind of a deal with your salesman. Lord knows they are having a hard time selling cars now and if they can get the correct info may be able to work some deal in your contrat for future installation.
The biggest problem is we know little on this package and odds are the sales people will be clueless. Ask and see if they can dig up info with a district manager and get more info. It may not work but is worth a try.
