I have driven both cars and thre Vibe is a nice Toyota. It is under powered and not as room as the SS. I also feel the SS has a much better ride.

I have been a die hard Pontiac guy for years and still have two in the Garage. But I am now back to Chevy as the SS is one of the bes bargins on the market. Discount or not.
You really think so. Put a scan gauge on it when you try to punch it to pass or get on the freeway and say that. You'll also get worse mpg. It's sad when people buy a car and then go cheap on the gas they use just to save $10-$20 a month. I spend more on renting movies.

I really rather have the SS but 2 things against it is , No discount & premium fuel. I wonder if I hold out a little longer it would be worth the wait to get the horse power advantage
The vibe is a Toyota Matrix with different fascias.

I just looked in my paperwork and see that I didn't get the window sticker. I'm gonna have go back by and get the window sticker sometime this week.

The sticker prcie was $26,9?? if I remember correctly and the employee price was $24,3??. After all was said and done the total came to $26,777 out the door.

I never said it was perfect or prefered. I just stated it would run fine and be down on power. The comment was to make clear it was not manditory or it would damage the engine. GM has stated this and made this clear.

I run high test in mine and my series III SC GTP. The GTP will run fine on regular but it loses about 20 HP. Same for the SS.

It is clear to most here with out the need of you pointing it out hight test runs better but most of us know it will still run on the less if needed or desired by some.

Now in my old SSEI if you ran regular it would kill the engine over a period of time.

Regular is only an option and not the prefered.

Happy now

As to what ever movie they rent that is up to them.

I really don't care what they use as it is up to them. I use what I want and it is none of their busniess. Besides I bought both cars for power not MPG I use what gives me the most HP.

I think the Employee pricing for everyone special thats going on right now is just on the leftover 08s. But the regular employee pricing applies to the 09s

What I see in some of the print ads here is they are discounting the employee price and the rebate from the sticker and nothing else.

Now when I bought my 08 SS a few weeks back we started at dealer price then took the rebates and my GM points off and I got them to come down a little more after that. I got my SS from 26,556 down into the low $21,000 and it was just over $23,000 out the door with tax and title.

The only option I was misisng was side airbags.

The 09's went up in price a little but I think some of the dealers are not knocking off any of the money they usally do and they are just letting the GM discount take up for the money they usally barter down on.

Now thats not to say some dealers are still dealing, this was just what I saw from the advertised prices in the paper.

I was worried that I might have bought too soon with the employee pricing on a 09 but now I don't think I would have gotten a 09 close to the price I got my 08.

I also bought a new Malibu last week and the advertised prices are not close to the 2LT V6 I bought my mother.

this is exactly what they're doing with it and how it works for all of us that normally get employee pricing. they take the GMS price that is set for each car, it pulls up in their computer system, and then the rebates come off of that new price.

That is how GM tells them to do it, and that's how they have to do it. I talked to 4 or 5 different people, different dealers and GM people that have bought cars, and whatever the GMS price is, that's it. They not "allowed" to sell the car for less then that, or they get in trouble with GM. A lot of people will naysay on that, but that's how it is. You can negotiate more for your trade, which is what i did, but that's about it. the GMS price is there so you basically don't have to haggle with them, you can walk in, point at a car, say you want it and get 2 grand or so off of it and then any additional rebates.
