This is a very True statement, I do not claim to be a "High Performance Driver" and this is not my first "sports car".

Every car has a different feeling, and with this car I was just seeing if it was just me or if there was anyone else experiencing the same problems.

I was thinking about putting some better trans fluid in, that did wonders for my Mustang.

Or just give it a few 1,000 more miles and see if it gets better.
dont change the trans fluid...GM has a specific fluid in them....I work on Saab's that use the basic same trans, and trust me there is no reason to change....please no flaming thats just from what we have seen.

I too think this would be a mistake! A fluid change is not going to help. Maybe Steve really isn't crazy.

No-lift in competion mode works great for me... Man, it really rips thru the gears when you have that turbo wound up! I have had plenty of practice over the years with my Firebirds!

I have never missed a gear or had trouble shifting the SS (other than 5th once in a while while I am driving like a grandma!) I tried speed shifting tonight with traction control and stability control both disabled to see the difference, and it wasn't much... Just rocketed down that backroad once the 1st gear tire smoke stopped! The main thing I notice when using Competion Mode off the line is it kind of stumbles quite a bit while it is trying to limit that tire spin.

I have had it work a couple of times, but not once at the track. I called my local Chevy dealer and they have not heard of any trans problems for the SS yet. So I guess I'm going to be the Ginni Pig.

is this competition mode only activated when you put the gas to the floor with the clutch depressed and its bouncing off the rev limiter?..or if you take off normal from a light and then decide to shift it with the NLS(no lift shift) into 2nd will it still work?
I want to try it and wan't to be certain to get it right the first time.

Yes, you can certainly do that. In fact unless you are actually dragging someone I would recommend taking it easier in 1st gear launch... Give yourself some time to learn the car before you get too carried away!

Is anyone else experiencing any shifting problems with their cars or is it just me.
I've been having the exact same problem! I've tried to do the no lift shift a few times from 1st to 2nd and everytime it just will not go into gear! I feel like an idiot as the engine screems and the exhaust is backfiring over and over. I have no problems at all making the 1-2 shift when driving normal, it's just when my foot is on the gas it seems the synchros just won't do their job. On my last attempt I really tried to muscle the shifter but it still didn't go. Afterwards however the shifter did feel a lot smoother, but I haven't tried the no lift shift again. Maybe next time it will work - fingers crossed.

Oh, and I just came from an '05 Cobalt SS/SC which has virtually the same tranny. That car suffered HORRIBLE wheel hop at the top of 1st and if the car was hopping, the tranny wouldn't go into gear either.

Agreed, and based on my 2 attempts, I don't have the no-lift technique down either. However, having driven many turbo cars over the years (and I drag raced turbo bikes for years), I've got my own 'throttle blip' technique for keeping the spool up.
