I'm finding that keeping it under 3500 is very hard to do that engine love's to rev up fast. I'm now at 925 miles and getting 25.1 in a mix of city/hwy driving.

That's great! Almost 28 mpg with an auto! I'm impressed. My wife does mostly highway driving with a light foot, so she should do well with an auto SS. Thanks!

What I get when I compute it by hand and what the DIC shows are two different figures. DIC seems to shoot about 1.5 mpg high.

Anyhow, in cold midwest winter weather DIC is showing 26.2 avg mpg. when I compute it out by hand lately this winter its usually between 24 and 24.5mpg. This is city stop and go driving.

Summer weather I pickup about 2.5 mpg accross the board

7050 miles on the odo. 2.2 liter auto trans. Reg 87 oct unleaded. Mobil Clean 5000 conventional oil in the engine.

I don't flog it to death but I don't baby it it either. If granny style babying it is a 1 and flogging it Fast and Furious Style is a 10, then my typical style is about a 6.

I think the fuel economy is good for a vehicle of this size, weight, and versatility.

You do reset the DIC each time you fill up, don't you? Cause if you don't, you are averaging over the complete miles since the last time you reset the DIC average. I haven't the chance to check mine on this car, but my Z06 and Rainier were always within .5 each time I checked, so I quit checking.

26 avg mpg, 30 avg mph, 700 miles.
I drive mixed stop & go and highway. The mileage is right in line with what the sticker said (22-24-28).
08 2.4 2LT auto.

Mixed normal driving has been around 23.5 MPG here in northern Illinois. This DOES include letting the HHR warm up each morning before work for about 5 mins each day. Not sure if that figures into the DIC, but the 23.5 is computerd by hand regardless.

First long road trip (Chicago to Huntington, WV) averaged 32 by hand.

Just crossed 1450 miles on my 2LT 2.4l Automatic.

First tank: 14.2 gallons for 323 miles, 22.7 mpg actual. DIC read 22.2 mpg. Almost all city, with one short burst to 100mph, yahoo!
