Its cool. No worries. I browse off the New Posts search from the toolbar and I don't always pay attention to what forum a thread is in.

SS UPDATE

I have around 1200 miles on the SS now. If i push it pretty hard, I'm getting around 24 MPG in mixed city/hwy driving.

If I baby it I can get as high as 29 MPG in the mixed driving!!!

FWIW, I have used both 91 and 89 octane and I acheived the 29 mpg results on the transition tank of gas. I'm going to stick with 89 octane for a while and see what happens. There have been no ill effects to my knowledge so far.

Nice! irloyal. I've been beating the drum as to the potential gas mileage out of this 2 liter. 25 in hardcore city. 29 in mixed, 33+ on the open highway.. It's all in how you drive.

1600 miles 27.4 mpg and average 39mph. Mostly back roads, very little interstate. Nothing I would consider city driving. Went from spending $80 a week for 87 octane when driving the El Camino to spending $50 a week for 93 octane. I'm a happy camper.

my wife drives it mostly and its getting 28.8 with 43 mph average.Car has 1051 miles.
It is also running on a slight rich tune from the factory as the inside of the tailpipe is black.Haven't put it on a dyno yet but i bet its around 11-1.

The black at the tailpipe is soot, a by product of the direct injection. Not a result of a rich mixture.

2200 miles ....

the best I have done so far is 28.8 mpg, average 40 mph, mostly interstate but stop and go traffic in the AM, hitting passing gear, playing with the auto from the lights, etc. been up to 105 and had way more to go...using 93 octane

UPDATE: I also have noticed that the mpg is slightly off on the DIC, to my benefit, as the recent 149 mile round trip to DE yesterday used 5.1 gals which yields 29.2 mpg as opposed to the DIC reading of 28.7 so I have officially hit over 29 mpg

Here are my facts..

I am keeping a spread sheet with all vital info -

* Average spped

* Gallons filled

* MPG

Date.....................Mileage...MPH....Gals.... ....MPG
4/10/2008................311......27 ......12.80......24.30
4/16/2008................326..... 26...... 13.70 ......23.80
4/21/2008................370 .....27 ......13.44 ......27.53
4/23/2008................375 .....28 ......13.10 ......28.66
4/28/2008................313 .....32 ......12.00 ......26.13
5/01/2008................343 .....23 ......13.82...... 24.82
5/05/2008................355 .....30 ......13.70 ......25.91
5/09/2008................364 .....27 ......13.42 ......27.12

I drive all over northern Ohio and just got back from a total highway trip and am figuring on averaging about 29 MPG....hopefully.

MPG on the CID are pretty much right on.

Added some STP this tank and let's see what it does...

Actually you are wrong because this isn't the only GM car that has direct injection and the readings on the o2's under full throttle read rich.I'm a GM master tech and ASE master tech and trust me the car is rich.This isn't running on diesel and soot is a by product of that not because of direct injection.
