Rear disk brake conversion from the SS parts

To show only the parts for the SS, follow the link above but search again after specifying Chevrolet as make and HHR as model.

I noticed that the rear axle and brakes are being sold as a unit.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/2008-...item5add4c4db2 I remember someone saying you would need all these parts to convert the rear drum brakes of the LS/LT to the disk brakes of the SS. It might also take more parts, a lot of labor, and then the brake system's computer still might not let the thing work right. I have done some significant modifications like the heated signal mirrors, but I strongly doubt I would want to do this one. I am not unhappy about how my HHR brakes in the way I am unhappy about its headlight illumination pattern. Hence, I'm spending $600 for HID retrofits, and spent over $500 to add heated signal mirrors. If I thought I'd notice a performance improvement from rear disk brakes, I'd snap this up and then go in search of a mechanic who would like a higher income this year!

Comments anyone? I believe someone HAS done this conversion before.

Also, with this: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/08-Ch...item5add482f64
one could start a conversion to put the window controls into the door. I am NOT about to do that, either!

Question.

I'm looking at the sub/amp:

Now I have the normal SS radio/head unit but no sub. Would this just be plug and play? Is there the wiring already ran to the area or no?

no sub?

I thought that the SS always came with the upgraded sound system of the 2LT. I thought that the only 2LT package option item not on the SS was heated seats. All 2LT come with subwoofer in the back on the left side, I believe. Are you SURE you don't have one, too?

I seen they had a 2.0 with manual tranny for almost $6000. I kinda thought that was a bit much??

Just up-grading your stock brake pads, & brake shoes to a better friction material will make a very good improvement at a minimal expense..

Yes I am sure, and the SS always came with the upgraded 6 disk, but not always the sub. Around 12% came with the base speakers, and not the sub. I cared more about color then the sub when I was shopping.
