Man I love all these different code numbers, just recieved a call from the dealer that my build date is still the 16th, but that my new code number has move up to 3300, hey there's still hope and Gm kept the 0-60 finance so I'm still a player.

Woo-hoo! My TPW held up...the dealer just emailed me that my order hit status 3800 today and gave me my VIN# with estimated delivery in about 3-4 weeks.

When did you order your SS?

I ordered mine on 12/30/08. I talked to the salesman once since then (we were at the same doctor's office!). He called the dealership and they said that some sort of number would be generated the next week, and it wouldn't be too long...

That was over a month ago.

I'm not impatient, just curious.

...but it would be great to be driving a new SS!!!

 

Thanks Pete...was almost resigned to taking one off a lot. Found some nice Aqua Blue ones, that wouldn't have been too bad to take!

 

I ordered mine on 11/13/08. Ask your salesman to get the exact status code of your order off their computer. He may have to consult the person who actually enters the orders but they can give you more information than you've gotten so far. Push them for it because with GM's production in such a state of flux, you need to know what is going on in case you have to come up with a Plan B. I've been on my salesman for information at least once a week and he won't stop hearing from me until I take actual delivery. Good luck!

Plan "B" would be to keep what I'm driving and try again for a 2010.

I know I probably shouldve waited to get the '09 Panel.... WITH the Brembo kit... but my story was kinda funny. At the time of trade in, I was driving a 2005 Silverado Z71. The wife to be just traded in MY 2001 MP3 Protege on a 2008 Altima. Um... what?

yeah...

So there I am one day, driving home from work, gas gauge on 'E' so I pull into a gas station. $130 later, I have a full tank. This is completely unnecessary. So I head home (keep in mind its about 4:00 PM) the g/f is just getting home with dinner so I shovel it in, not saying much. At about 4:45 I get up, stretch, burp and tell her that we need to run some errands. She doesnt protest much, mostly because I havent told her much. At exactly 5:18 PM, we pull into the Chevy dealer just down the street from us. Now, I have to admit to you guys, I was thinking practicality at first. I looked at 3 new malibus, which are NICE let me tell you, but not exactly high on the fun and cool factor. So I look at new Impalas. The only one I liked was the SS lol. 303 hp 5.3 V8 though.. thats what my truck has.., while I know the car will get better MPGs its completely irrational to trade for this thing. Damn. Then (keeping in mind this is early May 2008...) I looked at used Cobalt SS/SC's. Ehhh you seen one you seen 'em all. Then it hit me. WAIT! Do you guys have any HHR SS's hiding anywhere?!? The sales guy cracks a smile. 'Just one' he says. I was confused because I hadnt seen any on the lot. Its a HUGE lot, but in my quest I scoured the whole thing... I thought. Then, as I'm contemplating this thought, I see it. Glimmering in Silverstone Metallic, the light of the setting sun reflecting off its contoured body lines... Those magnificent 18" polished wheels sparkling under the florescent lights... it was love at first sight. I immediately bombarded the sales guy with questions. What stereo is in it? Does it have the 2008 optional LSD?? Is it a 5 speed, YES! To answer in full, Pioneer system, of COURSE it has the LSD, its a 5-speed, Silverstone metallic w/ grey ultralux interior... just to name a few. Then the wife chimes in... 'its so UGLY.' OMG woman I'm going to break up with you and leave you here.... lol ok no, but still. And we drive. And my smile hangs from ear to ear. I must have this vehicle. Listen. Woman. You traded MY limited production of 1900 MP3 proteges in for a fade into the crowd 2008 Altima 2.5SL. Couldnt even get the VQ motor... So you're going to deal.

Back at the dealership the paperwork starts flying. I get a decent trade in for my truck and all the agreements are in my favor. Unfortunately, its Friday at 7:53 PM. I couldnt pick up my new baby til Monday. ERRRRG! But I took off work that Monday (May 5th) at noon to come get my baby. I miss my truck but it's place has been welcomed by my new baby. Born 3/15/08, Adopted 5/5/08. I am writing this cuz it's b day is coming up soon as well as our anniversary and I feel as though she needs recognition...and a great present. Like a Hahn IC/ IC piping upgrade as well as a CAI if Dejon has any in stock : )
